Senior, editor offc tire Millard County Chronicle at j Delta to write a book which bears I the title "Millard and Nearby." j Having completed the book, con- j tributed to it many of his prize photographs assembled during I years of work in the region, gone : to considerable expense even to take pictures of important spots from the air, Mr. Beckwith turned j the entire work over to the Boy j Scouts of Millard county to publish j and sell, as a project on which all j profits are to be divided on an ?pproximate 50-50 basis between the Boy Scouts for their sales efforts ef-forts and their Scout Council to support Scouting activities. Appreciation to Editor Beckwith for his work is expressed in a forward of the book by the executive execu-tive officers of the Boy Scouts of Millard County. They say, in part: "Mr. Frank Beckwith (Senior) very kindly compiled this material concerning Millard and Nearby and gave his work freely and without with-out thought of recompense to the cause of the Eoy Scouts movement. I We were very fortunate in this in- ! deed, for his studies of this area j have been conducted over a period : of more than thirty years, explora- j tion, inquiry, research and much j concentrated study of the Indians. . . . His attitude on the matter was, j 'The Boy Scouts are taught to do , a 'good turn' Well, here's a good turn done to them.' " The book, just completed and ready for sale, is written In language lan-guage easily read and understood by young and old alike, and Is made up as a series of tours to points of historical and scenic Interest In-terest in Millard county and the surrounding area. It contains that clipped, concise phraseology, so charactertistic of its author that makes any reader, at all familiar with Frank Beckwith, feel that he must be in the room speaking to him personally from its pages. In commenting on the book himself, him-self, the author says: "Some of th-e pictures are 30 years old. . . . I made my airplane flights mainly in 1946, at the age of 70 whiskers flung to the breeze. ..." and the entire book is Just as breezy as that in spite of the fact that it was completed as its author approaches th-e age of 72. We daresay years of delving into in-to the past have made Frank Beckwith Beck-with keep young, and following him in the pages of "Millard and Nearby" will make the reader feel young, too. The book was printed by Art City Publishing Company of this city. The clothing industry has come up with another new wrinkle luminous stripes for. children's clothes.
