Mr." Meyrick was born in Mt. : ri-asant November 10. 1S64, u sen of John and Jemima Hutohin-i Hutohin-i son Meyrick, early pioneers of : , th-s city. He was one of the i earliest students of Wasatch ' academy. As a young man he be-; be-; I came associated with C. P. Win-i Win-i I Chester in wool growing, and la- I tor, wish his brother, George ' Mevnck and Charles Renburg. icgjniiei a sheep company known as the Meyrick and Ken-burg Ken-burg firm. He was a student at Farkville college. M.ssouri, from lSt2 to 1S95, and on his return ' again engaged in wool growing. ; Later he was a buyer for Culp Brothers Sheep company of Sail Lake City. ; He was a director of Pleasant Creek Irrigation company. ' He was a member of Damascus : lodge No. 10. F. and A. M sir.ee 1906. and served as worshipful master in 1911 and later as trustee trus-tee and in various other capaci-t:;s. capaci-t:;s. He was also one of the earliest ear-liest members of Mt Pleasant ; lodge No. 22. Ancient Order of United Workmen. He was a i member of Mt. Pleasant lodge No. 21 I O O F. of which he was i past noble grand, and was a char- ter member and past patron of Ivy chapter No. 10. O E S. He was a member of Utah consistory of the- Scottish Rite and of El Ka'.ah temple of the Mystic Shrine. : He served two years as city councilman and two years as : Sar.pete county commlss'.onei, ' . ar.d' was a member and former trustee of the First Presbyterian church of Mt Pleasant. Intensely public spirited and patriotic, Mr. Meyrick gave each of the more than one hundred your.g men from Mt Pleasant who served in World war I a dollar dol-lar when they left home and ai- so tendered them a banquet at a Salt Lake hotel. f Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ar.nie Jensen Mevrick; a son. James D. Meyrick Jr.. of Mt. Pleasant; four daughters, Mrs. C. ; A. Poulsoa of Mt Pleasant; Mrs. Frank M. Panr.e'.tT cf Salt Lake i City; Mrs. Harvey Gibbs of Se- 1 ar.ie. Waj'r.ir.gron; and Mrs. Urell Mikkelsen of Fountain Green; ' eleven grandchildren; three bro thers. Hyrum Meyrick of Mt. ' Pleasant; George Meyrick of Ash- ton, Idaho, and Joseph Meyrick of St. Anthony, Idaho; two sisters, sis-ters, Mrs. Jennie M. Christensen cf Ashton, Idaho; and Mrs. Niels Johar.sen of Moroni. Funeral services will be conduced con-duced by Damascus lodge No. 10. T. ar.d A. M at 1 p. m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian cnurcn. The eulogy will be delivered by Eev. G. Grey Dashen. Members of the Masonic fraternity fra-ternity will be active pallbearers, a-.d members of the Odd Fellows lodge will attend the services in a body as honorary pallbearers. Friends may call at the famiiy heme at 341 West Mam street from 10 a. m. Saturday until time of services. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant city cemetery under the direction of the Ursenbach funeral funer-al home. |
