Show Experience-Short WA Team Plays At A.F.; N.S. Plays Here Tonight "We lack experience," That's the way John Sours, coach at Wasatch Academy, sums up this year's football team which goes into its first test tonight (Friday) at American Ameri-can Fork. Of the forty-seven men out for football at the Academy, only two are regulars from last year's team. Add to this, one end and two backs who were on the squad last year and you have the total experience around which Coach Sours hopes to build a team which will keep alive the fighting fight-ing record of past year's W. A. teams. Last year's team for instance, in-stance, was the regional champ. The two regulars from last year's aggregation are a couple of hefties named Bob Marimon and Bob Moore. Mari-mon, Mari-mon, weighing in at 215, is from White Rocks, Utah, and plays tackle. Moore, a were 185, plays fullback and is from Pioche, Nev. Coach Sours is optimistic about some of the newcomers including a Sitka Alaska boy, Barney Van Sandt, who has 'seen the first football game of, his life this fall, but will probably play-first play-first string halfback tonight -at American Fork. A couple of other likely pros-spects pros-spects are the Beighley twins, Dale and Don, from Pittsburg Pa., who will be given a chance at the end position. Sons of a Geneva steel company official, the twins will be playing in their new hometown when they appear tonight at American Fork. Schedule of the WA team during dur-ing the remainder of the Fall includes Delta at Delta, S;pt! 23; Hinkley here, Sept. 30; North Sanpete, Oct. 6, also WA Homecoming; open date the following weekend; Millard here, Oct. 21. Coach Sours said he is currently current-ly lining up some post season games to be played following the Millard game, the last of league play. Meanwhile North Sanpete's Rams which lost a close one to Lincoln high last Saturday by a score of 7-0 will take on the Lehi high school team tonight at North Sanete. |
