Show I SPRING CITY By Special Correspondence I The Red Cross drive is now under un-der way in this city, under the direction of Mrs. Leona Terry and Mrs. Vurleen Osborne. The city is being canvassed by the following ladies: Mrs. Helen Jensen, Mrs. Thelma Madsen, Mrs. Alida Jensen, Mrs. Mamie Allred, Mrs. Nellie Blain, Mrs. Phyllis Blain, Mrs. Lola Sorensen, Soren-sen, Mrs. La Preal Nielson, Mrs. Emma Sorensen, Mrs. Evona Jus-tesen, Jus-tesen, Mrs. Maud Downard, Mrs. Vurleen Osborne and Mrs. Leona Terry. The monthly ward Primary study meeting was held Wednesday Wednes-day evening at the home of Mrs. Betty Adams. The Teacher Training Train-ing lesson was presented by Mrs. Vera Downard. Mrs. Adams then served a delicious lunch to those attending. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson and small son of Salt Lake City spent the past week here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Osborne and small baby now residing in Salt Lake City also visited home the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne. Both Mt. Johnson and Mr. Osborne are attending school at the University Univer-sity of ITtah. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Acord are the proud parents of a baby boy bora last week in Salt Lake City. Robert served in the Merchant Marines the past year, spending several months overseas. Mrs. Acord was formerly Miss Clara Fay Nunley of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken entertained enter-tained the following guests at a rook party, at their home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Claren Scofield, Mrs. Vera Downard, and Mr and Mrs. Vireus Osborne. Mrs. Aiken served a delicious lunch, carrying out the Easter theme in score cards and other features. Lamont Jensen, Mrs. Ada Ellis and Claren Schofield were score winners. Sgt. Neldon Jensen is home from Service having received his honorable discharge from the Army March 8, at Fort Douglas, Utah. He enlisted in the Air Corps and left for Service July 5, 1943, and trained at Shepherd Field, Texas; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Ar-kansas; Lowry Field, Colorado; Lincoln, Nebraska and Salina, Kansas. He left for overseas August 10, 1945, and was stationed sta-tioned at Tinian, Okinawa. Neldon was a member of the Photo Reconaisance Squadron, and 'while on mapping projects flew over and mapped China, Lormosa, Japan, Korea and Man-churia. Man-churia. He flew across going and coming home on a B-29 plane, and also the B-29 was used while overseas as their plane in their work. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Ferre Anderson and small child of Salt Lake City accompanied Neldon home and visited their mother Mrs. Ethelyn Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne, Glen and Leo Osborne were Fair-view Fair-view visitors Saturday. The following ladies were the guests of Mrs. Vurleen Osborne at a quilting party at her home Thursday afternoon: Mrs. Ada Allred, Mrs. Lafern Jensen, Mrs. Anenia Allred, Mrs. Ella Carlson, Mrs. Grace Allred, Mrs. Lola Watson, Wat-son, Mrs. Lorna Jensen, Mrs. Leona Le-ona Terry, Mrs. Iva Aiken, Mrs. Eva J. Allred, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Emma Sorensen. Mrs. Olga Black, Mrs. Lizzie Osborne, also Mrs. Margaret Justesen of Mid-vale. Mid-vale. The ladies were served a dainty lunch by the hostess. Rulon Dahl, formerly operating a grocery store and meat market at the Red and White store, has now moved to a new location a few doors North on the same block to his own store. He has installed many new conveniences. conveni-ences. His store is located where the old Post Office used to be, and has been remodeled and rebuilt re-built inside and is now open for business. Nordell Allrcd, who is attending attend-ing school at Logan, spent the week end home with his wife and baby and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred. Mrs. Marsden Allred entertained enter-tained the Social Service club at her home Wednesday evening. The time was spent in playing progressive rook, with scores won by Mrs. Vilate Hope, Mrs. Mable Beck and Mrs. Leona Terry-Special guests were: Mrs. Leona Le-ona Terry, Mrs. Mable Beck, Mrs. Frances Osborne, Mrs. Margaret Justesen, Mrs. Winona Allied, Beth and Beverly Osboren. The hostess served delicious refreshments. The North Sanpete Stake Primary Pri-mary Board meeting was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Athene Osborne, with President Presi-dent Mrs. Elva Allred in charge. Mrs. Hazel Black presented the monthly scripture report. The Board members having visited ward Primaries, the past two weeks, gave reports. Mrs. Allred gave the report of ward contributions to the children's chil-dren's hospital and reported the sum sent in exceeded that of last ' year. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain entertained a group of friends at a party at their home Thursday Thurs-day evening. Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Willis Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Allred, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Leon All-red, All-red, Miss Manett Allred, Mrs. Ella Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph .1. Beck, Mrs. Emelyn Anderson, Mrs. Eva Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. John Petersen, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Pearl Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Max Blain and Miss Mar Rae Blain. A hot supper was served by Mrs. Blain. At progressive rook scores were won by Miss Manett Allred and Mrs. John Petersen. ' Mrs. Mauriel Nunley was hostess host-ess Thursday evening to the K. K. club members. Progressive rook was played and Mrs. Nunley served a delicious lunch. Special guests were Mrs. Agatha Major and Mrs. Ruth Dye. William E. Robinson has been ill at his home the past week. Mrs. Earl Dean Clark is visiting visit-ing in Long Beach, California. She went there to help care for her aunt, Mrs. Lucy Parkin, who has been very ill in a hospital at that place for several weeks. Sgt. C. K. Burger received his honorable discharge from the Army March"lO at San Francisco. He entered Service in September, 1942, and was in the Weather Division. He served as a Meteorologist Meteor-ologist in the Air Corps. He was stationed overseas at Saipaa and Manila in the Philippines. His wife, Mrs. La Veil Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen Burger, left Tuesday with her baby daughter to join him. They will make their home in Stockton, California, where he will be employed as Postal Mail Carrier. Henry Blain is visiting in Og-den. Og-den. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peterson were Salt Lake City visitors over the week end. Bishop and Mrs. E. B. Terry were Salt Lake City visitors Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Florence Aagard of Fountain Foun-tain Green visited Wednesday at the home of her father, John S. Blain. |
