Show L. D. S. Church Committee Hecomrr.ends Fall Ciean-Up Letters have been sent out by the L. D. S. Church 'Beautifica-tion 'Beautifica-tion Committee to all wards and stake committees, recomimend-...g recomimend-...g and asking that a fall cleanup clean-up campaign be put over in each ward and in all communities. The time when this clean-up shall be conducted and the meth-oa meth-oa of doing it must be arranged by local committees it should occur before the winter . storms come. Periodical clean-uip days will stimulate a public interest in the ibeautification program. An increased in-creased number of individuals will take part when public sentiment sen-timent is aroused. : During the summer months there has been an accumulation of waste, trash and debris in many places. All of this should be cleaned up and now is the time to do it. Weeds and other . such growths should be removed and burned. Places where insects in-sects and pests may 'hioennate and also their breeding (places : s-iould' be destroyed. j Another good reason for a thorough fall clean-up is the protection pro-tection of our health. Unclean places .may be disease breeding. Sickness and suuiierinig may result re-sult and place a burden on our families. Clean sanitary conditions con-ditions help to protect our health. 'Many if ire hazards may be removed from our homes and public buildings in such a cleanup. clean-up. Remove anything obsolete which imay have little or no value; it will help to improve the appearance of our homes and surroundings. Thousands of tourists have visited the West this summer, and more are coming. com-ing. If our homes, surroundings, and p'olblic places are clean, oeautiful, and well taken care of, these travelers will go away with a favorable impression of our communities and people. The ward committees are also being reminded of the season's climax to the Home Beautifica-tion Beautifica-tion Program, which is the scoring scor-ing of all homes. It is not a contest. Every home scoring 70 or more of the 100 points is entitled en-titled to receive an award. The ward committees are asked to do the scoring soon so that all 1 who are entitled to an award may receive one. These awards are given with, the hope of inspiring in-spiring people to take greater ipride in their homes, thus mailing mail-ing them better places in which to live. |
