Show ' Cost-of-Living Conference To Be Held September 28 That old "debbil" the high cost . of living, will be subjected to a terrific drubbing at the North Sanpete Cost-of-Living Conference Confer-ence to be held at the Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant North Ward chapel Thursday, September 28 at 8 p. m. This announcement an-nouncement was made today by Mayor John Gunderson, chairman chair-man of the Mt. Pleasant Cost-of-Living Conference. Representatives of .all civic, "social church, labor and other organizations are invited to attend at-tend the conference, the chairman chair-man said, the purpose of which will be to give a report on the progress of price control and to discuss methods by which disastrous dis-astrous inflation may be avoided. "Prices after the last war rose 40 per cent," the chairman said, "and helped to give the send off to the panic of the early 1920's, when 450,000 farmers lost their farms and more than 105,000 business busi-ness houses failed." Dr. A. Smith Pond, former professor pro-fessor of economics at Brigham University, and now OPA regional region-al educational specialist, Denver, and H. Grant Ivins, Utah OPA district director, will be the speakers. |
