Show ! MORONI ! By Specal Corespondence Mary Jane W. Christensen Dies At Family Home in Moroni Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Walch Christensen, 75, who died at her home in Moroni Saturday Sat-urday after a lingering illness, was conducted in the Moroni West ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Chrst of Latter-day Saints, Wednesday at 1 p. m. under direction of Bishop James Nielson. Burial was in the Moroni cemetery cem-etery under the direction of the Jacobs Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Christensen was born Dec. 21, 1S71 at Scipio, Utah, a daughter daugh-ter of Louisa Ivie Walch and Phillip S. Walch. She was married mar-ried at Scipio July 19, 1S99, later going to the Manti Temple for her endowments in 1937. She lived in Levan for 23 years, later moving to Moroni, where she lived.until her death. Mrs. Christensen was an active Church member, serving as a visiting vis-iting teachcer in Relief Society at Moroni for a number of years, and also serving as a Primary teacher in Levan. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Archie Christensen and Mrs. Vanda Draper, Moroni. Iler Christensen, Salt Lake and Mrs. Hilda O'Leary, Milford, 12 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Bernetta Frederickson, San Fernando, Fer-nando, California. Funeral Servce Held Thursday For Rudolph Chrstensen Funeral services for Rudolph Christensen were conducted last Thursday at 2 p. m. in the West ward chapel with counselor Ru-lon Ru-lon Johnson in charge. Prayers were offered by Sophus Christensen of Tooele, Utah and Ernest Anderson of Ephraim and the speakers were Ralph Anderson, Ander-son, President George M. Anderson Ander-son and Rulon Johnson, all of whom paid beautiful tributes to his life and character. A vocal solo, "My Buddy," was sung by Harold Arnoldsen; "Sleep, Soldier Sleep," was sung by Mrs. Pearl Christensen and the combined East and West ward choir furnished fur-nished two numbers. Mrs. Den-eice Den-eice Blackham played all accompaniments accom-paniments and Mrs. Florence Christensen was director of the choir. There were many beautiful floral offerings and a large number num-ber of people in attendance at the services, all of which was an evidence of the high respect in which the family is held. Interment was in the Moroni cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Jabez Faux. 4-H Girls Encamp at Boulger There were 20 girls from Moroni, Mo-roni, in addition to girls from all over Sanpete county, left Thursday Thurs-day to attend a three-days encampment en-campment at Bulger, east of Flat canyon, under direction of extension ex-tension agents, Russell R. Keetch and Naomi Jensen of Manti. The chaperones for these 4-H club girls of Moroni were Mrs. Leah Larson and Miss Colleen Curtis. The girls enjoyed games and contests, con-tests, as well as receiving instructions in-structions in the making of berets, be-rets, also campfire programs, hiking and sports. Prizes were given for the cleanest clean-est camp and they had inspection three times each day. First prize was awarded to the Sterling 4-II girls and the 2nd prize was won by the girls of Chester. There were 280 girls in all, which included all the Sanpete County groups. Everyone enjoyed the trip very much. Mr. anod Mrs. Earl Peacock of Los Angeles visited last Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Mozart Larson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Weslen-skow Weslen-skow have just returned from a most enjoyable trip to San Fran-scisco. Fran-scisco. Mr. &nd Mrs. Newell Olson of Idaho Falls have just returned from a very delightful trip to Portland, Oregon and to Los Angeles. They also visited here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Blackham, after which they with their children returned to their home in Idaho. Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Cloward extend their sympathy to them in the death of their infant son. He was born on August 1st and passed away on Aug. 2nd at the Madsen hospital in Ml. Pleasant. |
