Show I MORONI SELECTS THEIR i CENTENNIAL QUEEN AT GRAND CORONATION BALL ; On Saturday evening, May 17, Miss Darlene Storey was crowned as Moroni's Centennial Queen at a grand Coronation Ball at Ye Old Bungalow. Preceeding the queen on her procession to the throne was a little crown bearer, Miss Virginia Anderson, daughter daugh-ter of President and Mrs. George M. Anderson, and two ballet dancers, Miss Connie Larsen and Miss Anna Price, who did a crrappfill hallot- nnH thronr men petals in the path of the Queen. Their dance was accompanied by the singing of Moroni's Male Quartet, who sang, "Your Land and My Land." Upon her ascension as-cension to the throne, Miss Storey was crowned by Mayor Charles Christensen with a crown fashioned fash-ioned after a sunbonnet. Following Fol-lowing the Queen were her four beautiful attendants, Miss Mar-celline Mar-celline Bailey, Miss Norma Anderson, And-erson, Miss Louise Bailey and Miss Garvene Faux. After the coronation, the Royalty was entertained en-tertained by a double quadrille doing "The Rage Quadrille." These dancers wore specially designed de-signed pioneer costumes, and they made a very striking picture. pic-ture. The dancers consisted of the following couples: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Arnoldson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moss, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Morley, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Blackham, Mr. and Mrs, Glenn Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Tn.. n r j Ttir T- i.iy, im anu mis. rsoyce jensen, and Mr. and Mrs. John Guymon. The Queen was gowned in the most exquisite dress that has ever' been seen in Moroni. The dress was of white taffeta and lace, with a full hooped skirt and train.. Her dress was made by Mrs. Effie Blackham of Moroni. Mo-roni. The attendants were gowned gown-ed in dresses of beautiful pastel shades with full ruffled hooped skirts, and they were a beautiful beauti-ful sight to behold. Each attendant attend-ant made her own dress. This gala evening set Moroni off for a grand Centennial Summer. Jubilee Centennial Queen Contest Begins at Mt. Pleasant The following list of girls have been selected to run for queen and her two attendants to reign over the Mt. Pleasant Jubilee Centennial celebration on July 3, 4 and 5: Helen Squire, Mary Louise Madsen, Elaine Brewer, Merlene Draper, Norma Seely, Dolma Nelson, Nel-son, Rhea Anderson; Marilyn Bagnall, Donna Fern Neilson, Billie Winkleman, Mary Ann Pritchett, Audrey Rolf, Bonnie Lou Norman, Shanna Hafen and Aneta Rae Peterson. Preliminary elimination will end June 9th at which time the five highest will enter the finals. The contest will end June 23rd. The five girls in the finals will each choose a campaign manager man-ager from the Jaycees to help her : attain one of the coveted positions. Voting will begin at once at one cent per vote. |
