GRANGER Troop Planes Hop Ocean Every Six Minutes The Army's air transport command com-mand expects to have one flight over the Atlantic every six minutes min-utes when the air ferrying of troops from Europe to the United States reaches its peak. The tactical planes, such as bombers from Europe, will be stepped up to between 100 to 125 daily. These planes are being flown over the North and South Atlantic by the crews that manned them in combat. The Army Transport Command hopes to return 50,000 soldiers a month by air when redeployment redeploy-ment hits full tsride. This service serv-ice operates more than 2000 transports which fly two million miles every 24 hours over 166,000 miles of regular routes. It has been reported by the theater's chie surgeon that the death rate among American Army battle casualties in this war was less than half that of the World War. Fewer than 13,-000 13,-000 of those hospitalized have died, while more than 2,000 medical med-ical officers and soldiers have been killed while serving with the combat troops. Of noteworthy importance is the report that 195,000 pints of whole blood were furnished by civilians at home while the soldiers sol-diers in Europe furnished 140,000 pints. Order of Priority in Purchase of Heal Estate The order of priority in the purchase of governmental non-industrial non-industrial real estate properties that have been declared surplus by various government agencies has- now been announced. The regulation controls the disposal of farm lands (such as the land which now comprises the Topaz Relocation Center in Millard County), residential, small business, busi-ness, mineral and grazing real property. Government agencies hold first priority in every instance, with state and local governments holding a second priority. A state or local government that has lost a highway or a street because the Government took over what was classified as non-industrial non-industrial real DroDertv. has a special priority, ahead of all other state or local governments, to permit it to establish the highway high-way or street. Other preference participants in the purcahse of such surplus real property, follow in order: former owner of the property before be-fore acquisition by the government govern-ment tenant of former owner; veterans of this War, also spouse and children of a deceased service serv-ice man; owner-operators; and non-profit institutions. |
