Show Farm Produce By Plane The idea is being advanced that farmers in the future will find it profitable to ship some of their fresh fruits and vegetables vege-tables by air and the makers of airplanes are interested in the speculation. Not all perisable farm products are adaptable :o air transport which will be feasible for products prod-ucts of high intrinsic value in proportion to weight andpossess-ing andpossess-ing a value to the consumer that is enhanced by speed in transport. trans-port. Such produtcs of the farm as potatoes, oranges and other products prod-ucts of this nature, are not likely to be shipped by air. Present rates are considered somewhat high for the profitable use o. aerial freight service and much depends upon the developmen! of return payloads for the success oi c":ieh i ansportation. Even after considering all the problems and difficulties connected con-nected with the possible transportation trans-portation of farm products by air, the conclusion is inevitable that the farmer, like other modem mod-em business men, will take advantage ad-vantage of the speed the airplane offers. Just what can be hauled profitably may be uncertain, but that aerial freight will be accepted ac-cepted by fanner and consumer is one of the certainties of the future. |
