Show More Scientists Sought For Civilian War Positions The Uni.cd -States Civil Service Serv-ice Commiss'ioni 'modified today the requirements ifor 4 types of scientific positions, in am. effort to secure additional qualified persons for civilian work in Federal Fed-eral war agencies, both in the United States ar.d abroad. Apipointmienits are to be made imi.r.'ediat'sly in the fields of metallurgy, met-allurgy, plhiysics, meteorology, and chemistry. Appointments iwill work with specific problems in onie of these fields. Most of these 'problems will 'be coir.miect-ed coir.miect-ed with some phase of the war iprograim. Salaries for the positions' posi-tions' range ifromi '$2,600 to $5,600 a year. College teaching in metallurgy, chemris-ry ami meteorology is al-lciAed al-lciAed as professional experience for any of the positions, provided that all o.lher requirem'e.n'ts for the grade have ben imet and that the teaching was carried on with '.he minimum rank of instructor. in-structor. For physicist positions, the teaching of physics in colleges, col-leges, high schools, preparatory schools and itrade 'schools iiil be considered as professional experience, exper-ience, with the same provision im efifect. Completion of a 4-year course in the optional subject at a recognized! college, wiJh a minimum min-imum of 2 years of professional experience ini the field of i.ihe option, op-tion, or appropriate graduate study, is required.
