Show Pioneers Will Celebrate Here On March 2nd March 2 has taken on a real significant meaning in Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant since the official announcement announce-ment of the annual homecoming celebration date was set by the Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical Association for that day. This annual celebration has taken on real dimensions since ts inception thirty one years ago. Today it is one special occasion of the year when those who have moved from this community and hose who have made friends among local people may return and renew acquaintances and ar. assured that the spirit of good fellowship, will greet and welcome wel-come them into the festivities of die occasion. Family letters will be written to alsent members advising them of the appointed day and urging their return. True to their nature the male sex is beginning to preen itself for the celebration. Men may be seen carefully massaging the bearded regions of their faces in an effort to encourage a more plenteous growth preparatory to the Grand Beard Contest. David Candland, Wellington Seely, Andrew Madsen, Peter Monsen, Christian Sorensen, Hans Poulsen, Henry Ericksen and others may be felt to live again, through the appearance in pioneer pion-eer fashions, or their grandsons and descendants. It is the one time that the younger generations hear something some-thing of the lives and customs of their pioneer grandparents who were among the great western empire builders. Nor will the gentler sex take place for already they are hunting hunt-ing in the old chests and in the attics for the best of grandmothers grand-mothers remaining wardroue and in frills and laces, bustles ana hoops they will do their part as make believe pioneer ladies. True to part tradition this day will be one grand success from sunrise to sunrise. |
