Show I SPRING CITY j By Special Correspondence The Public and Junior High schools featured an Armistice Day program Friday afternoon, which was as follows: Band selections, conducted by Ernest B. Terry, Muusic Instructor; a jhorus by the school pupils; Invocation, In-vocation, by Arthur O. Neilson. The pledge of Allegiance by the entire school, a "Moment of Silence." Si-lence." Son, "I Pledge Allegiance Alle-giance to The Flag," by the Elementary Ele-mentary school. "Signs of Victory," a tableau by the Elementary school children, chil-dren, Don Sorenson, FaVon Watson, Wat-son, Rosie Crisp, Charles Osborne, Clair Syndergaard, Ruth Ellis, i.ella Dahl, Thomas Allred and Dixie Mickel; song, "United Nations"; Na-tions"; a Boys Chorus sang, "Soldiers Chorus, Battle Cry of Freedom;" World Mar I Experiences Experi-ences were related by Reid H. Ul.ed. Song, "God Bless Our Boys." Benediction, was pronounced pro-nounced by Helen Madsen. Thomas Baxter, a World War I veteran of the Navy, has enlisted en-listed in th.'1 Merchant Marines. He has a son, also serving in the armed forces. Mr. Baxter made His home in Salt Lake City for several years. He is a son of Mrs. Janet Baxter of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Royal L. Allred have received word from their son, Roger that he has participated partici-pated in the Pacific Invasions. He has been in service several years and said in his letter that he feared now he wouldn't be able to contact his brother, Lt. Nordell Allred, a pilot in the Air Corps, also in the South Pacific, as he had recently been moved too far away. Mr. and Mrs. William J. Baxter received a letter from their son, Wilbur Baxter, a member of General Patton's Division, that he was well and getting along fine. He stated though that due to the cold weather they would gather cans and make them a stove. This is the first word they have received from him in more than a month. Word was received from the War Department that Russell Aiken S l'c and also Lyndon Jensen Jen-sen of the Army, that they were now sent overseas. Russell is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken, and Lyndon is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Jensen. In corresponding with all who knew of the Air Corps crew connected con-nected with her son, Clinton Draper, now reported missing in action, Mrs. Floyd Draper received re-ceived a " letter from Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania from the Navigator's wife, whose husband was also one of the missing crew members with young Draper. The lady wrote that she had recently received six letters and two cards from her husband, now a German prisoner. He said that they could get along and that he was thankful they were all safe and well. She felt that he was referring to the other crew members. mem-bers. The plane was shot down almost six months ago" and the members have been reported missing. Mrs. Eva J. Allred received a letter this week from her son, Jerry that he was well and would "o1" know how to act without war if the opportunity affords itself. Jerry, Chief Petty Officer, enlisted en-listed in the Navy several years prior to our entrance into the war and he has participated in many of the major Pacific invasions. in-vasions. Mrs. Doyle Olsen entertained a group of children Wednesday evening in honor of her daughter, daugh-ter, Maxola's birthday. The ward M. I. A. held a dancing danc-ing party Tuesday evening in the Victory Hall. This is one of their special monthly events. Mrs. Vero Aiken held a birthday birth-day nariv Thursday evening for her daughter, Yvonne. Mrs. Fay Erickson entertained the members of the Lititia and Fidelia club at her home Friday evening. The time was spent in playing progressive Rook. Prizes were won by Mrs. Utanna Strate, ' Mrs. Nellie Blain and Mrs. Rose' Schofield. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. Plans ( were made for a Thangsgiving j party for the club members and1 their partners, also for a dancing party to be held soon. i Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Jones and little child spent Saturday and Sunday with their mother,! Mrs. Eva J. Allred. The visitors reside in Park CKy. Miss Manett Allred entertained enter-tained a group of friends and relatives Friday afternoon and evening at a hot turkey dinner. The Bridge club was entertained enter-tained Thursday evening by Mrs. McKay Anderson at her home. Scores were won by Mrs. Audra Blain arid Mrs. Melba Ericksen. A dainty luncheon was served by the hostess. Mrs. Rolan Johnson of Gar-fiold Gar-fiold is now visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Odell Blain. Mrs. Lucille New Hart of Omaha, Oma-ha, Nebraska spent several days visiting with her mother, Mrs. Anenia Mickel at Spring City. She was accompanied home by her mother and an aunt, Mrs. Mary E. Acord, who plan to visit a few weeks with her. I Mrs. Lorna Jensen entertained the Alclhea club members Friday Fri-day at her home. New officers for the coming year were selected as follows: Mrs. Sylvia Nielsen, president; Mrs. Lorna Jensen, vice president; Mrs. LaVee Draper, Dra-per, secretary and treasurer. Plans and assignments were made Tuesday afternoon at Primary Pri-mary for the Thanksgiving Cheer baskets, which will be taken out I Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving I Day to the shut-ins and aged of the ward. ' The girls of the Fifth grade held a surprise party Tuesday ! evening for their class mate, Lenore Allred's birthday. Max Blain, local hunter and instructor of art at the Mt. Pleas-yn. Pleas-yn. Hamilton school, bagged his i lk during the hunt. Mr. Blain is the first elk hunter to bring his elk to town. The officers and teachers of the Y. L. M. I. A. met in their regular monthly planning meeting meet-ing at the home of Mrs. Hazel Black on Monday evening. A brief outline of lessons was given by each teacher. The activities and cultural arts programs were discussed, and a report on the Era drive was given by the director. di-rector.
