Show FAIHVIEW By Special Correspondence I A cottage meeting was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Bills Wednesday night with Mrs, Crystal Brady conducting tilt meeting. The speakers were Albert Stewart, Ted Mower and Mrs. Hortense Larsen. A duet was sung by Mrs. Lucy Tucker and Mrs. Jordan Bills. Prayers were offered by Mrs. Hortense Larsen and Mrs. Gladys Anderson. Ander-son. There were twenty people v,-ho attended the meeting. The Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Luella Johnson Thursday evening. The lesson, ''Pioneer Stories," were read by Mrs. Delta Nielson. The remain-c.er remain-c.er of the evening was spent in doing needle work, after which dainty refreshments were served .o eight members. Miss Karma Bushman, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Denzil Bushman, Bush-man, was operated upon for appendicitis ap-pendicitis Wednesday evening at the Dr. Rigby hospital. She is reported to be getting along as well as can be expected at this writing. Mrs. Ellis Madsen was operated oper-ated on for Goiter at the Cedar City hospital Monday morning. Latest reports advise that she is getting along nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen and daughter, Arlene and son, Duane were visitors in Salt Lake City and Provo last week. A Progressive supper was enjoyed en-joyed Sunday evening by the following fol-lowing girls: Bonnie Lee Stewart, Stew-art, Florine Anderson, Anna Lee Cox, Lillie - May Tucker, Arlene Jensen, Sidney Sanderson, Miriam Miri-am Peterson, Alene Rasmussen, Janet Madsen, Norma Jones and Una Lee Tucker. The "Fire Side Chat" club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Zanders Thursday evening. The lesson, "The Way To Perfection" was given by the teacher, Howard How-ard W. Rigby. The remainder of the time was spent in playing Rook. Light refreshments were servied. Mrs. Betty Nielson left for Mississippi last Sutiday where she will go to visit her husband, who is in the Navy and is stationed sta-tioned in Mississippi at the present pres-ent time. Mrs. Hannah Howell received word that her son, Berthel Howell has been promoted to the rank of Machinist Mate, third class. Private Dale Rigby, son of Mr. and Nrs. Thomas Rigby, who has been stationed in Mississippi, spent a two days' furlough at home last Satirday .and Sunday. ' Mr." and Mrs. Don Rosenlund entertained at a dinner Saturday evening. The following guests attended: Mr. and Mrs. Olin Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Erick-son, Erick-son, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Mower and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vance. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Hartley and daughter, Carma were Provo visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Garner Madsen are the happy parents of a baby girl born Sunday, January 30th. at the Madsen hospital in Mt. Pleasant Mr. Madsen is a Petty Officer in the Sea Bees somewhere some-where overseas. Mrs. Madsen was formerly Miss Ruth Christiansen. Chris-tiansen. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Peterson of Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. James L. Peterson last week. Mrs. Minerva Vance and daughter, daugh-ter, Leatha Vance were Provo visitors Monday. Verl Brady, son of Mrs. Crystal Brady, has been promoted to Fireman, second class. Verl is somewhere in the South Pacific. The evening Adult Class on War Time Feeding and Food Preservation was held Wednesday Wednes-day night at 8 o'clock at the school house under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Martha F. Brother-son. Brother-son. Mr. James T. Peterson just returned re-turned home from a trip to Black-foot Black-foot and Pocatello, Idaho. While in Idaho he attended Mrs. Sadie Peterson's funeral services. She is a sister in law. He also visited vis-ited with his children in Tooele and Garfield on his return trip. A Welcome Home party was held Thursday night in the South Ward chapel in honor of Elder Clyde Cox, who returned Tuesday after filling a two years' mission in the North Central states mission. mis-sion. The following program was given: Prayers were offered by Lester Miner and James T. Peterson. Helcome Home talk by Bishop Heber Mower; a reading was given by Mrs. Nellie Pratt; three vocal solos were sung by Floyd Young, Mrs. Ellis Coombs and Kenneth Graham; a Clarinet solo was given by Dean Sanders; a talk by the returned missionary; mission-ary; a vocal duet by Mrs. Annie Jensen and -.daughter, Colleen Jensen. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Garlic announce an-nounce the engagement of thei daughter, Miss Lila Garlic tc Pfc. Merrill W. Seeley, son o: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Seeley of Mt. Pleasant. The mariage will take place in February at Hastings, Hast-ings, Nebraska. Miss Garlic accompanied ac-companied by her mother, left for Hastings, Nebraska on Tuesday.
