Show i FAIRVIEW j I By Special Correspondence I The operette "The Modern Old Women who Lives In A Shoe" written by Jessie Sundwall was presented in the B. V. U. college nail Friday by the first grade children of the B. Y. U. training school under the direction of Mrs. 'iviay Hammond. The operette was w il received by a large trowu. 'Ihe P. V. A. play scnool children child-ren and their mothers mingled in a soc-.al at the city hall Wednesday Wednes-day October 30th. The children feuve a Halloween program and me mothers served refreshments. There were 76 motners and chiiuieii in attendance. The inotjiers he-id a meeting following the program. On l-iiuay a four o'clock tea was given oy ladies Republican club. The oid age pension people were special guests. Representative Representa-tive Ray Lund of Manti was the speaker, about 50 people were in attendance. Refreshments were served. A farewell party and dance is to be given in the South ward chapel and amusement hall Saturday Sat-urday November 9, 1940 for Mr. Blake Anderson son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleone Anderson. Mr. Anderson has been called to labor as a missionary in the western Slates mission. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cox are the proud parents of a baby girl and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lasson are rejoicing re-joicing over a baoy boy born November 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Irven Orten are the proud parents of a baby boy. Mrs. Lorna Terry entertained Sunday November 3 in honor of birthday. The afternoon was spent .n a social chat. Dinner was served serv-ed to the follow.ng ladies: Mrs. Samuel Bills, Mrs. Izola Rigby, Mrs. Vera Brady, Mrs. Ella Allred, Mrs. Lorna Tucker, Mrs. Annie Bills, Mrs. Louie Stewart, Mrs. Effie Bushman, Mrs. Angus Stewart. A Republican ralty and free picture show and a pageant "LiD-erty "LiD-erty Speaks" written by Mrs. R. C. And erson and Miss Lucy Phillips Phil-lips was given Monday evening. This pageant was very good. A large crowd attended. 'ihe Democrats gave a free dance and floor show held in the ward amusement hall Monday this was largely aUe;:Cea. Mrs. Ella Aiirc-d was a visitor .n Carbon County last week. Mrs. Allred visited with her son and family at Spring Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Madsen of Salt Lake visited in KairviCJ Vis week. Mr. Arthur has returned home after a tr.p to Colorado. Mrs. Lanson Stewart is a Salt Lake visitor this week. Mr. Goiden Carlson was a visitor visit-or in Salt Lake Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Blain Vance of Spring Canyon spent the week end at Fairview. Mr. R. D. Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Jensen and son, Bobby, Mr. Don Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Linden Mower of Clear Creek spent the week end in Fairview. The Snow college is putting on a musical program in the north ward chapel Nov. 6. This program will be under the Budget number. Everybody is invited to attend. The Junior high held their annual an-nual Hailoween party October 31. The evening was spent in dancing danc-ing and refreshments were served prizes were given to Dee Cox and Buena Lee Tucker for having tiie Lest costumes. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nordstrom of Monroe were Fairview visitors last week. |
