Show Rockets In War While the rocket cannot be classed as a new weapon, its widespread use by the armed forces of the world gives it complete com-plete equality with other instruments instru-ments of death. The extent of the use of rockets is hardly appreciated by laymen but Rear-Admiral G. F. Hussey, Jr., Chief of the Navy's Bureau of Ordnance, says that at the peak of rocket production, the Unied States will be spending "$100,000,000 a month fro rockets of all kinds airborne, shipborne and for use from the ground." The rocket, with its propelling and explosive force, has been known since time immemorial, but its adaptation to the requirements require-ments of war is a new high in he present struggle. While high explosive projectiles require expensive equipment for their discharge and direction, the rocket utilizes relatively simple apparatus, which may become more complicated as efforts are made to launch them in large numbers at the same time. |
