Show FOUNTAIN GREEN 1 By Special Correspondence 1'iie people of this community nave been shocked this week in the ueath or two of our oustandmg ward members, both having passed pass-ed away oh February 4th. Funeral services were held, on Monday in the ward chapel for John H. Sorenson, age 29, son of Mrs. Sadie Sorenson, who died of neart trouble from which he has suli'ered his entire life. Bishop Irvin P. Oldroyd presided at .the services. Prayers were offered of-fered by Jewel Lund and Claire uollard and the speakers were John H. Snow and President James L. Nielson, both of wnom paid Ueautiful tributes to his character. a reading was given by Mrs. Kennedy Ken-nedy Seager of Tremonton. Vocal solos ft ere given by Mrs. Athalie Johnson and Mrs. John H. Snow. The wa.d choir furnished several numbers. The grave was dedicated by Booth Sorenson of Provo. Mr. Sc-renson was a devoted church worker all his life and leaves a host cf friends .to mourn his loss. He is survived by two brothers. Booth Sorenson of Provo, and Louis So.enson of Salt Lake City, and his mother, Mrs. Sadie Sorenson of ous city. Mrs. Edna Estella Cook Christiansen, Christian-sen, 56, wife of C. T. Christiansen oi' Fountain Green, died last Friday after a brief illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Christiansen was a prominent promin-ent civic worker and had been active ac-tive in the L. D. S. church and auxiliary aux-iliary organizations. She was born in Moroni March 10, 1881, a daughter daugh-ter of Daniel H. and Emmeline Draper Cook. She had been a resident res-ident of Fountain Green for more than thiriy years. Su.viving are her husband, four sens, Valden Christiansen of Portland, Port-land, Oregon; Ross Christiansen of Ogden, Utah; Garth and Percy Christiansen of Fountain! Green; two grandchildren; two brothers, William Cook of Duchesne and Riley Cook of Challis, Idaho, and three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Irons of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Mozelle Tid-well Tid-well of Moroni and Mrs. Chloe Bailey of Nephi. Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Tuesday in the ward chapel with Bishop Irvin P. Oldroyd officiating. offi-ciating. The speakers were President Presi-dent James L. Nielson, Martha Ed-ler, Ed-ler, Joseph Ursenbach of Mt. Pleas ant, Bishop Ephraim Nelson of Moroni, Alphonzo Wlndgate of Manti Temple and Bishop Irvin P. Oldroyd. all of whom told of her dependability, her long and active years, cf service in the ward and her iaithi'ulness in every responsibility which she held. The prayers were offered by President Matthias All-red All-red and Ole A. Allred. Vocal solos were given by Mis. Evelyn Anderson Ander-son of Nephi, Mrs. John H. Snow and Randall Christiansen. The grave was dedicated by John E. Aagard. Miss Thelma Johnson, age 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson, is at Dice Hospital, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis last Saturday and is improving nicely now. The Home Economics club has been reorganized with the following follow-ing officers: Mrs. Sarah Augason, president; Idena Crowther and Bertha Christiansen, aides; Mrs. Emma Hansen Leona Mower, Katie Andersen and Rachel Coulson, serving committee; Virginia Nielson, Niel-son, secretary; Alverda Llewellyn, organist; Geraldine Johnson, chorister. chor-ister. They entertained the outgoing of-ricers of-ricers Monday evening in Municipal Munici-pal Hall with an elaborate banquet and dance. Each officer was also presented with a token of appreciation. appre-ciation. The honored guests were Amy Samuels, Iona Draper, Macel Anderson, Maxie Christiansen, Lottie Lot-tie Bills, Vea Jensen, Gladys Hansen, Han-sen, Gertrude Coulson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allred received re-ceived word of xthe arrival of a baby girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson of Salt Lake City on February 3rd. The mother was formerly Miss Katie Allred of this city. The Fountain Green High Priests entertained last Friday evening in Municipal Hall in honor of Fred D. Smyth cf Manti and George C. Jackson of Midvale. who have been members of their quorum-, but have recently moved away. A program was enjoyed after which refreshments refresh-ments were served. The honored gues's were each presented with a book. |
