Show Art Building To Be Opened On June' Hill' i The Board of Directors of the Utah Art Studio desires to notify the people of the State of Utah: of the formal opening, June 11th, of the new building which has been erected on Reservoir Park (South Temple at 13th East, Salt' Lake City) and which is to be I the new home of Utah art a I statewide gathering place and ex-1 hibition center for all forms of art, crafts, literature and music. The opening ceremonies will take: place at four o'clock and will include in-clude addresses by Governor H. H. Blood, Mayor Louis Marcus and commissioner Harry L. Finch. There will be exhibitions of the work of Utah artists, musical programs, and a public reception and tea. Beginning Monday, June 12th, the gallery will be open daily from 10 A. M. to 10 P. M. free to the public.' As self supporting features of the place, there will be daily tearoom service In a room especially provided for that purpose where lunch, tea, dinner may be had as desired, at moderate prices; and upstairs rooms available for club meetings, parties, lectures, at nominal nom-inal rentals. While enjoyment of the exhibitions exhibi-tions in the gallery is free to all, there are special privileges, including in-cluding participation in the government gov-ernment and other activities, which require a membership. Charter life memberships without dues may be had until June 12th, for $1.00: thereafter, the fee for individual life membership, till further notification, noti-fication, will be $10.00 or $1.00 per year. The treasurer of the organisation organ-isation is Miss Ann M. Cannon, 49 West South Temple, Salt Lake. The building is located on public property; it is an eleemosynary or charitable institution, tax-free; its government is elective and representative; repre-sentative; the works of all Utan artists, whether musical, literary, or whatnot, will there be offered opportunities of exhibition. In other words, this is a PUBLIC enterprise, en-terprise, financed by widespread contributions on the part of public spirited individuals and business firms, the Make-work Committee and the City Commission. Upon the support and participation of the public in its activities, rests its success and the cultural reputation reputa-tion and advancement of Utah. |
