Show Yuletide Again the happiest and most important im-portant day in all the year draws near. With it comes a feeling ol sacredness and holiness, of charity and inrbcarance. The finest and mcst enobling emotions of the human hu-man l':art find expression at this time. There is something indis-ciicably indis-ciicably tender and sublime in the very atmosphere cf Christmas. In fancy we can hear the angels' song of gladness ringing out into the silent night, and resounding among the Judean hills where slept the shepherds ana their flocks, beneath be-neath the stars. Above the roar of battle and the cries of the dying wa can faintly hear the gloricus announcement which startled a darkened world, "Fear not, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people, for unto you is born this day in the city cf David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord." If the strife-torn peoples of the earth could but pause in their mad rush for power and advantage over their fellow-men, and consider how utterly useless is war, how futile are the fruits of cenquest, and hew terrible are the consequences of slaughtering each other, the joyful story of the new born king might touch their hearts and waft its beauty over the scene of carnage and destruction and illuminate its blackness and woe. ' "I am the light of the world. Come unto me and I will give you rest," are still the sweet invitations to forsake all evil, all strife. How desperately we need this light, and how urgently the teeming teem-ing millions need rest. How far they have strayed from the pleasant pleas-ant valleys of peace and good will toward men. And so at this Christmas time, let us renew our faith in the great mission cf the Son of God, and lift again our hearts in praise and gratitude to Him. For in very truth He is the light and hope of the world. In the ways of righteousness right-eousness which He has pointed out only can we find rest. So send forth the tokens of love Send fcrtln a message of cheer Open the door cf your hearts to all On this, the glad day of the year. Grace Jacobsen. |
