Show Ferron CCC Camp News Captain Kirillin and Dr. Sher-rard Sher-rard of this company met with a serious acc dent Friday, May 22, while on an official business trip to Sanpete county. Captain Kirillin escaped w th minor bruises but Dr. Sherrad was more a.'riously Injured, In-jured, receiving neck injuries, a strained back and bruises. The automobile, belonging to Captain Kirillin, overturned near Hll Tcp several miles north of Fairview due to the gravel condition on the road. The automobile was severely damaged. Twenty-five men under Richard L. Blakeslee left Wednesday, May 27th to set up a spike camp in Huntington Canyon. They will build a cattle guard and do other improvement work. The crew Includes In-cludes LeRoy Land, assistant leader; lead-er; Petty and Barnes, caterpillar men; Hughes, Thygerson, Syme and Rowe, compressor men; and Mark Brown, truck driver. A project of camp beautlfication has been carried on during the past month. A portion of the parade pa-rade grounds lias been seeded to ' lawn grass and a number of coniferous con-iferous trees have been planted. The seeded area is sprinkled from ithe Ferron water system. It is noped that the outcome is good. Capain William G. Hines, Assistant Assis-tant District Quartermaster, and First Lieutenant Harry P. Hart- ,zell, assistant district veterinary I officer, visited camp last week and j checked the food supply. j Captain Keith K. Tatom, District Dis-trict Executive Officer, arrived at jCamp Sunday morning May 24th and made a camp inspection. Be- 'fore leaving he gave some suggestions sugges-tions for improv ng camp. I UdeU Stewart, Forest Service Engineer, was in camp several days last week during which time he looked over present projects and . also the proposed summer projects. I Enrollees from Sanpete County who have been honorably discharg-'ed discharg-'ed frcm Ferron Camp during May are: Nile Christensen, company clerk, Moroni; Clinton Morley, as-s'stant as-s'stant education adviser, Moroni; and Donald M. Peterson, Gunnison. , Educational pictures were shown in camp Monday night. Included in the six reels were: "The World cf Paper," "Campfires Among the Snowpeaks," 'On the Skeena River,' "The Arid Southwest" and 'Banana Land." |
