Show Farmers Get First Wheat Plan Checks Wheat growers of Utah who signed contracts to control production, produc-tion, will soon receive checks as the first installment from the national appropriation of approximately $102,000,000 for wheat adjustment payments, acording to word received receiv-ed by Director William Petersion from George E. Farrell, associate chief of the wheat section. Contracts are being received in Washington in increasing volume, and issuance of checks is expected to increase in proportion to the number of contracts received. Checks are written by special machines, ma-chines, which have a capacity of 00,000 checks dally. Checks have been mailed to farmers far-mers in 40 counties in eight states, totalling $415,057. They . went to scattering counties in Iowa, Nebraska, Ne-braska, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and New York. Contracts received from each county are first examined by the countv acceptance unit. comprised of four statisticians, four state ex-fcur ex-fcur farm leaders. The personnel of the unit gives representation to each principal wheat region. After the county inspection, contracts are examined individually, and then' approved for payment. |
