Show I I SPRING CITY I By Special Correspondence J Old Folks Entertained Spring City old people were royally royal-ly entertained Thursday When a dinner in their honor was given in the Victory Hall. There were 173 persons who enjoyed that splendid: feast. A very eu-jtertaining program was rendered follcwing the dinner. The program consisted cf a vocal :olo by Marsden Allred; a talk by Bishop James F. Ellis and one by Re;d H. Allred of the Bishopric"; two one-act plays were given; a dance by Ida BiUingston; a vocal selo by Mrs. Wyroa Hansen; and a reading by Mrs. H. C. Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant. The day's activities ended with a dance in the evening with music furnished1 by Moon Winks orchestra. The oldest man present was Andrew An-drew Thornton; the oldest ladies were Mrs. Elizabeth D. Allred and Lydia Puzey. There were 14 persons per-sons between the ages of 80 and 90. The town's oldest person is Mrs. Johanna Andersen who is 93 yeary and 5 months. She was not present at the party. Sorensen, Henry Schofield, Orin Jensen, Marsden Allred, Bert Allred, Grover Blain and Mrs. George Rasmussen, H. L. Acord and Ernest Justesen. The weather waa ideal and everybody enjeyed themselves emensely. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Pio-neers entertained on Monday at the home cf Mrs. Lydia Puzey in honor of Mrs. Puzey's 83rd birthday anniversary. an-niversary. Mrs. Margaret M. Peter-rcn's Peter-rcn's 85th anniversary and Mrs. Sarah E. Hyde, who also this week can celebrate her birthday anniversary. anni-versary. Luncheon was served to 25 guests. Mr. Rudolph Strate, County Treasurer, Treas-urer, has selected Don Strate ol Spring City as his deputy to assist him in the County Treasurer's office. ; Mrs. Mary K. Allred returned hems after visiting fcr some time with her daughters in Fab-view and Manti. Mrs. Joseph Aiken, who has been in Salt Lake City with her children for a couple of months, returned hrtne in time, for the old peoples party. Mr. 'anld Mfs). Hardey Hansen, Mrs. Evelyn Christemisen and Mrs. Fred Mickel motored to American Fork Tuesday to attend the funeral services of Parley Hannen, an uncle. Warren Allred left Saturday for Emery county where he is interested in-terested in the sheep business. He is wintering his sheep on the east range. Mr. Allred pent Christmas in Spiing City and has been here since the holidays Dale Allred and Garden Osborne are home from Trout Creek where ttaey havs employment with the Howell Sheep Comnay. Evan Justesen and Charles Clark motored Sunday to Salt Lako City to accompany Mrs. John F. Jmtysen home from a visit with her daugh-'rs, daugh-'rs, Mrs. Claude BurquM and Mrs. Williaim Anderson in the Capital city. Mrs. Marian Clcward of Aurora visited the past week with her aged mother, Mrs. Stena Allred at Spring City. The children of Mrs. Almina. Pederson wnre called here on account ac-count of their mother be'ng ill with pneumon'a. One daughter, Mrs. Eden Nielen of Du'thesns is stay-" 'rg brrs caring for her sick mother. Me'.ba Jensen, who underwent an appendicitis operation on Saturday of the past week, returned home Tuesday of this week and is doing 7pl"ndld in the way of recovering. Two small children of Sprang City are ill with pneumonia. One is Eugene, s'n of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Terry, and the other is a -mall daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ru-fu-; Osborne. Mr Alma Benson, who with his family went to California right after Chistmas, has obtained a position po-sition in Las Angeles. He returned rrre Saturday to attend to some hus:ness matters.
