Show Japan Strikes Again An official Japanese map of the new state of Manchukuo shows the Chinese province of Jehol within the boundaries of the puppet state set up by the Japanese soldiers. No step had been made to forcibly conquer, and annex Jehol until quite recently when the Japanese attacked and captured the Town of Shanhaikwan, Just below the eastern extremity of the Great WaU. As at Shanghai, the Japanese delivered their assault upon a city crowded with civilian population, claiming in justification that they had found some bombs planted by the Chinese in some of their sentry sen-try boxes. The importance of Shanhaikwan Ues in the fact that it will control the southern flank of a Japanese army pushing westward west-ward Into Jehol. The Japanese again demonstrate that they have no regard for world opinion nor Chinese rights. The militarists have pushed the na'ion into a dangerous adventure and nobody can foretell the result. China is embittered but for the present too weak to successfully resist. |
