Show I It's Interesting to Watch Departments Whizz By Desirous of bucking up business, the proprietor of a large department depart-ment store engaged an "efficiency expert," whose chief delight was changing the departments round. One day a section would be at the top of the building; the next it would be in the basement or where the restaurant used to be. After three weeks of this an old lady approached a worried-looking shopwalker and asked if he could tell her where the hardware department de-partment was. "No, madam," he replied wearily, "but if you'll stand here for a few minutes, I'm sure you'll see it go by." |
