Show An expert on fruitgrowing In the Northwest is Congressman William L. Ln Follette of the state of Wnshipgton. For fourteen years he shipped about one hundred cars of fftilt n year, including five thousand boxes of pears. During all of that time La Follette waged a continuous fight against the San Jose scale, no prevalent in the West, nnd the socnllcd fire blight. While some of his neighbors become disheartened and grubbed out their trees, La Follette kept up the battle, and although ho lost practically nil of somo varieties, he succeeded in producing n great quantity of first-class fruit.
