The forest service Iiuh prepared, for loan to hcliools, libraries and other educational inBtitutions, fictn of ixty-four ixty-four Bamplea of commercially important woods of the United States, toRcther with maps showing the region in which each species grows, short statements of their principal uses nnd physical physi-cal characteristics, charts and tables showing forest products by Btatcs, the rise nnd fall of tho lumber industry and tho percentage of lumber supplied by different regions, nnd mnps of the natural forest regions of North America and tho national forests. This exhibit is placed on mounts measuring sixteen nnd one-half by ten inches which aro affixed four on each of nine strips of green denim, with eyelets in the upper corners for hanging. The eitliro exhibit occupies a space about four feet high by thirteen feet long, j Each of the nine panels is numbered to facilitate hanging in their i proper order. The exhibit is loaned for short periods under conditions that the borrowers agree to pay transportation charges, to be respon- sible for the material while charged to them, and to forward iti promptly at the direction of the forest service. Applicants should ' state that they acree to these conditions. Effort is being mnde, to arrange itineraries of the exhibit so tnnt borrowers will usually' have to pay for transportation only one way, and that wherever practicable transfers be ma 'o between borrowers residing near each other. The exhibit boxed weighs about twenty-seven pounds. Application for the loan of this exhibit should be made either to the district forester, forest service, Ogden, Utah, or to the nearest i foreat supervisor. |
