Show 25 YEARS AGO In the Review From the I'lli s of The Review Saturday April 19, 1S30 The annual officers banquet of the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce -was held Thursday evening eve-ning at Keeley's Cafe in Provo. Clifton Clark was elected president, presi-dent, with the other executive officers of-ficers and committees to be named later. Talks on the past accomplishments accomplish-ments of the organization and plans for the future were given by Frank Newman, H. C. Robertson, Mayor Lewis Olpin, Harold Walker, Walk-er, President George L. Smith and James D. Thorne. The financial report showed that cash on hand for the previous year and the receipts cf the various var-ious activities totaled $4,264.90; and expenditures of $3,779.13. Last Saturday morning- most of the Timpanogos Stake officials met at the Tabernacle, and held a short meeting outlining plans for landscaping the grounds. During the work period which followed, 200 trees and shrubs were planted and the lawns leveled and seeded. J. P. Fugal and Sons completed the sprinkling system, making the care of the grounds much easier. Alma Christiansen was appointed as care taker and custodian of the building and surroundings. Hand bills are out advertising an "Overall and Calico Dance" for April 23 in the High School Gym-naisum, Gym-naisum, following the city clean-up Tickets are 50 cents a couple. Neighbors of Richards Walker, Orem, formed a "Bucket Brigade", and controlled a fire of unknown origin which started in his hay stack. The quick response of the Pleasant Grove Fire Department completely extinguished the flames, flam-es, and saved the house and barn nearby. The Kemp and Frampton barber shop on Main Street is undergoing extensive repairs and renovation. New paint, wall paper and mirrors, will present a tidy appearance. Cy Kemp said that during renovation renov-ation "patrons would be shaved in the rear." |
