Show Dog Owners Are Getting More Negligent In Caring For Their Doqs' Says P.G. Chief of Police "Pleasant Grove is going to the dogs, or nearly so," said Police Chief Glen Newman Monday morning. Not only is the dog population increasing, but dog owners are growing" more negligent negli-gent in oaring for "man's best friends," the Chief continued. Police records show that more and more of the officers' time is spent in investigating the depredations depre-dations of Pleasant Grove's dog packs. Monday morning two such cases were on the agenda. A sheep had been killed in one case and several rabbits had been slaughtered in another. Police officers cannot properly supervise traffic and care for problems of major law enforcement enforce-ment when their time is consumed consum-ed with investigating petty dog antics. Police officers are strongly of the opinion that the dog problem will continue to get worse in Pleasant Grove until a pound is established and a pound keper employed. Other Utah County cities have seen the wisdom of this expedient and their dog problems have abated accordingly. "Who knows," said Chief Newman, New-man, "how long it will be before our dog packs turn from slaughtering slaugh-tering sheep to killing children." |
