Show P. G. Recreation Program Shows Increased Interest Pleasant Grove's city recreation program is attracting increasing numbers of participants each day, according to directors John Gour-ley Gour-ley and Jeanette Shannon. Swimming Swim-ming at both Saratoga and the Scera pool in Orem, is( proving popular with the younger set. Forty-three attended the open swimming event at Saratoga last Friday; and Tuesday's class at Scera attracted twenty-eight 11 and 12-year-olds. A series of relay races were conducted Wednesday as a feature fea-ture of Strawberry Day. The winning boys and girls received as prizes, tickets to the various rides at Monty Young's carnival. Mr. Gourley announced Wednesday Wednes-day that a supervised trip to Timpanogos Cave was being ar-rangedv ar-rangedv for next week, for boys and girls of ages 10 to 14. The definite date for the excursion will be announced Monday. Another Cave trip for the younger children will be conducted during the week of Monday, June 28, Mr. Gourley stated. The classes in handicraft still continue to serve fifty or more children each day; but there is still room for a few more, Miss Shannon announced. The response to Wednesday's dancing class exceeded expectations, expecta-tions, making necessary the dividing divid-ing of the group into two divisions one for the 5 to 9-year-olds; and another for those of ages 10 to 13. |
