Third Ward Scout Banquet Held Last Saturday Boy Scouts of the Third ward, their parents and scouters enjoyed enjoy-ed a gay evening at the scout banquet ban-quet Saturday evening in the ward recreation hall. The program began with community com-munity singing; two vocal quartette quar-tette numbers; two steel guitar numbers by Dennis Barnett; and tricks by Alex Stecker. Guest speakers were Herbert Gilbert, explorer commissioner of Timpanogos District, and John Cross, assistiant scout executive, Utah National Parks Council. During the banquet 30 awards were given, ranging from lender-foot lender-foot to explorer silver award. Calvin Walker, explorer advisor conducted activties. He and the troop committee, John Hilton, institutional in-stitutional representative; Earl Booth in charge of advancement; Glen Nielson camping and activities, activit-ies, Bryce Adams, transportation; and Scoutmasters Sherman Var-ney, Var-ney, Dick Devereax and Dan Simper Sim-per and Max WaUter assistant explorer were responsible for the outstanding affair. Ninety-six scouts, scouters, and parents enjoyed the affair.
