Show Employment Has No Overall Improvement Employment in Utah Ccunty showed no overall improvement for the month of August, according accord-ing to the report of Jennings M. Lee, manager of the Provo Office of Employment Security. Seasonal employment in agri- " culture is up somewhat but the continued decline in metals kept employment on the same level as for July. However, employment officials are still "awaiting the upturn predicted earlier in the year." Thing continue to look brighter ahead. Transportation, services and retail re-tail trade still reflect the impact of the decline in metals. Retail aales were off 3.2 per cent for the month as reported for August. Aug-ust. Total building permits were below be-low those of the same month of last year, which in turn affects employment in the building trades. The only bright spot in ths economic picture was an increase of 11 per cent in total Utah County postal receipts, Mr. Le? said. |
