Show Error Day Defeats Berries in Last Sundays Provo Tilt It was .error-day with a big "E" for the Pleasant Grove Berries Sunday afLernoon on the Provo ball field. The Berry Boys booted the ball five times and lost by the lop-sided score of 13 to 4. Not that the locals went hitless, they banged bang-ed the apple aplenty; mostly to the outfield, where the Timp ball hawks gathered them in. On the contrary the Provo players play-ers hit them short, but usually where the Berries weren't. The impotence of the Pleasant Grove crew is clearly manifest by the following debacle. With two out, Wankier bobbled the ball, the batter was safe, and the Timps went on to score five more runs. It was just one of those things where the worst could happen and usually did as far as the Berries were concerned. Pleasant Grove used three pitchers, pitch-ers, Skousen, Peacock, and Wankier. Wank-ier. but neither had much luck in bottling up the Provo barrage. Berdean Jarman, substituting for Udell Westover, did the catching. For Provo, Ford went the full nine innings. While not as fast as formerly, for-merly, he had plenty on the ball Sunday. The P.G. loss and the Provo win tied both teams with American Fork for top spot in the Industrial circuit. |
