Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Don L. Worthington and a student stu-dent teacher from BYU speech department have begun a program pro-gram of speech coiTection at Lindon Lin-don School. They have screened all the students having any speech difficulties and will begin therapy this week. The screening program includes a careful check of hearing and speech difficulties and the ability abil-ity to make all basic sounds necessary for clear speaking. ESN It will be possible for parents with pre-school children to have their children's pictures taken today to-day Thursday, Feb. 18, at 1:30 pjn. following- the regular school pictures. ESN One day last week Mrs. Rena Keetoh, of Lindon School Lunch, visited Mrs. Norma Hales' Fourth . grade. Foods and menus were discussed dis-cussed and this week's Thursday menu was planned, chili, bread sticks, carrot sticks, lettuce wedge, strawberry shortcake and chocolate milk. They also made posters advertising the menu for each room. ESN Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. the Central School Third grade will present the annual program for thedr parents. The theme is "Getting to Know You," from the "King and I." Teachers are Beth Shoell, Rose Marie Makin and Leone Told, assisted by student stu-dent teachers Joyce Buchanan and Afton Atkinson. ESN Parents Visiting Day at Central Cen-tral has been set for Friday, Feb. 26. Visiting by parents will be by appointment from 8 to 3 :30. A feature will be a typical school lunch at 6 pjn. for parents at 35 cents. Parents must return reservation letters which will be sent out on Feb. 18. ESN An immunization clinic was held at Central School at 9 a.m. Tuesday. ESN Room mothers of the Central School served a Valentine Day treat to all the boys and girls last Friday. ESN Mrs. John Hilton, president of Central School PTA, entered the Utah Valley Hospital Wednesday for surgery. Her co-workers wish her the very best for a speedy recovery. ESN Grovecrest School faculty were hosts last week to the Central School for a combined faculty meeting held to discuss problems and questions concerning their Utah Teachers Welfare Association. Associa-tion. Vernon Everts;n, Alpine District U.T.W.A. representative, introduced the U.E.A. representative, represent-ative, who explained the program pro-gram and conducted a question and answer period. ESN Grovacrest PTA room mothers provided each room with a special spec-ial Valentine treat last Friday. Teachers and students would like to express their appreciation for this special consideration and for the time and effort givah by these ladies for the benefit of the school program. ESN Don Worthington, Alpine District Dis-trict Speech Therapist, will toe at Grovecrest for the remainder of the school year. He will be working work-ing with children who have speech and hearing problems. ESN Immunizations for February at Grovecrest were completed on Monday morning. Clinics will be repeated on March 14 and April 18. Both clinics will begin at 9:30 a.m. Afternoon students in kindergarten kind-ergarten and first grade will need to be here at this time. Parents should provide transportation for them. Pre-school children may receive their immunizations at the Community Com-munity clinic held the last Friday of each month at the City Hall. |
