Show Pioneer Memorial Theater to Accept Plaque Donations Deadline for submitting applications appli-cations for seat plaques in Pio-neetr Pio-neetr Memorial Theater has been extended to Feb. 1 by Sons of Utah Pioneers. Plaques honoring Utah's pioneers pion-eers (persons who arrived before be-fore the railroad did) will be placed on the 1,022 seats in the proposed theater, which is to be constructed on the University of Utah campus at the head of 3rd South. Individuals or organizations organiza-tions may provide the plaques for $200 each, which will include the cost of engraving the pioneer's name, date of arrival in Utah and something about his activities. Responsibility for conducting the- campaign to obtain the seat plaques has been accepted by the National Society of Sons of Utah Pioneers. D. Crawford Houston national first vice-president, is campaign chairman. It was anticipated originally that the drive could be completed by Thanksgiving. Difficulty of family organizations in contacting contact-ing their members - on short notice, no-tice, caused many such organizations organi-zations to request an extension of the deadline, which has been granted. Contributions for the seat plaques may be sent to the SUP at 2998 Connor Street or to the Alumni-University of Utah Development De-velopment Fund, earmarked for the Pioneer Memorial Theater. |
