Show Medicine Saddle Lets Sick Animals Move A new type of "medication saddle" sad-dle" for sick animals, which enables en-ables horses and cows to walk around and graze while they are receiving intravenous infusion treatments, has just been developed devel-oped by the veterinary medical profession. Much as a regular saddle is buckled to a horse, a plastic bag containing the desired medication is strapped on the sick animal's back. A tube extends from the bag to the animal's jugular vein, or to the mammary vein. This permits a slow, continuous infusion of medicine into the animal's ani-mal's system; a necessity in treating treat-ing certain diseases. It also eliminates elim-inates the need for restraining horses and cattle during treatment. They may walk around freely, and the infusion will continue without interruption. |
