Show Graveside Rites Held For Pfc Richard Harvey Simple but deeply impressive burial rites were conducted Thursday, Thurs-day, August 7 at 7 p.m. for Pfc Richard Harvey, who lost his life in action at Orscholz, Germany, on January 20, 1945, during World War II. The graveside service in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery was conducted by Bishop Harold Bullock Bull-ock of the Grove ward, in connection connect-ion with American Legion Post No. 70, with Commander Bill Bigham in charge. Invocation was offered by Robert Rob-ert McOmie, an uncle. This was followed by the gun salute by the American Legion and taps sounded sound-ed by Richard Ballow. A very fine tribute to the memory mem-ory of Pfc Harvey and all young men who served their country, was made by Karl Banks, followed follow-ed by a Cornet Solo, 'Going Home' which was played by Mr. Ballow. Cpl Bill Golden then made the presentation of the American flag to the dead boys parents and H. S. Walker, "an uncle 'offered the ded-icatorial ded-icatorial prayer. Pallbearers, were brothers of Richard, Eugene H., J. H., Kenneth, Ken-neth, James and David and a cousin, cou-sin, Sherman Christensen. Members of the American Legion Leg-ion squad who fired the salute were Commander Bill Bigham, Raymond Bastian, Robert Holdaway, Max Harper, Leon Smith, Lowell Baxter, Bax-ter, and Viron Washburn. Survivors include his parents, of Pleasant Grove, five brothers, Eugene H., American Fork; J. H. and Kenneth Harvey, Manila, and James and David Harvey, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, and one grandfather, Hans Christensen, American Fork. |
