Pleasant Grove Jaycees have been working diligently for the past week building wreaths and installing the strings of' beautiful colored lights along main street, in preparation of the grand opening open-ing of Christmas Season and the turning on of the lights, Saturday evening, December 6th. The ten large silhouettes which hang from the electric light posts on Main Street were repaired and decorated with colored cellophane. This work has been done by the Jaycee Gems. The decorating of Main Street is the first event in the fine program pro-gram that the local Jaycees have been doing each year since its organization was perfected a number num-ber of years ago. In addition to the decoration of Main Street, the Jaycees are revamping re-vamping the decorations at the City Hall, and using a more ex tensive plan for the city building. This is the location where the grandstand will be built and where the caroleers will sing, and also where the Jaycees-Merchants give-away drawing will be conducted. con-ducted. In addition to the Main Street Decorations the Jaycees are contacting con-tacting the local business houses and asking them to participate in the decoration program, asking each merchant to decorate his own place of business in keeping with the general theme of the decorations decora-tions the local boys are putting on Main Street. This year's program will include all of the fine features that have been carried on during the past, with Santa Claus visitation to the Central School where the over-eight over-eight hundred youngsters will be entertained. Negotiations are underway with Keith Miller for a free picture show for the young people of the area. The home decoration program will be held again this year with prizes being awarded for the best dei orated home. Christmas Caroling will be another an-other outstanding feature of the Christmas holidays. With different differ-ent groups from various wards of the community being asked to do the caroling some fine results are expected. Committees for the various events ev-ents were announced Wednesday by Sam Green, Jaycees President, and included Clifton Wadley and Fred Keetch, co-chairman; Clifton and all members of the Jaycee organization, or-ganization, Street Decoration Committee; Fred Keetch, Santa Claus; Home and Merchants Decoration Committee, John M. Lie; Christmas Caroling, Sam Gioen; Adult Give-away program, D ivid Green. |
