Show POLLS OPEN MOW. FOB SCHOOL T-Um BOND ELECTOR sel this is a move in the right direction, as did the Pleasant Gruve City School's Study Committee. Com-mittee. I do not think it would be good judgment to try to float a bond large enough to build a high school in each of the four cities at the present time. And, it is the advice given by the Bonding Firm officials offic-ials not to float the bonds so large as to jeopardize our credit rating. The Board met with the president presi-dent of the Geneva Steel Plant to get his reaction regarding this bond election, which will effect them to the amount of 52 per cent of all the taxes paid in the district. They were very cooperative and expressed expres-sed themselves in view of the fact that if we progress in education and growth in population we must erect school buildings. At this time I would like to give you a breakdown of who pays the taxes in this district. G-eneva Steel Co. 52 Public Utilities " 20 City Lots and Improvements 18 Farms, Grazing land, and Livestock 10 I stand for the best educational program possible that the tax payers pay-ers and citizens can afford to give to the youth of this district and being your representative on the School Board, it 'is my desire to carry out your wishes for better schools and education. Please feel free to express yourselves by coming com-ing out to vote next Monday, Dec. 21, 1953. C. R. Clark School Board Member from Pleasant Grove The Alpine School District Bond fi Election to be held next Monday, Dec. 21, 1953, to raise $1,250,000.00 for the purpose of building a senior high school school at Orem, and purchasing high school sites at Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove, is not a move to consolidate senior high schools but rather a plan to build these schools as the need asises. This will increase the tax levy an additinal 3 mills, which means $3.00 per every $1,000.00 assessed valuation per property owner; of which the Geneva Steel Company will assume approximately 52 per cent, public utilites approximately 20 per cent, city lots and improvements improve-ments approximately' 18 per cent and farm and livestock approximately approxi-mately 10 per cent. BOARD OF EDUCATION, ALPINE SCHOOL DISTRICT Elijah Chipman, Clerk After being asked by the editor of this paper to give my views on the coming school board election for 1 million dollars, said amount to erect a high school building in Orem, and furnish the same with equipment and to purchase building build-ing sites for high schools at Lehi, American Frk, and Pleasant Grove, I would like to express some of my views as to the reason why we should vote in favor of the bond election. After months of very careful study by the school board pertaining pertain-ing to the over-crowded conditions throughout the district, the decision decis-ion ha3 been reached to separate the Junior and Senior high schools as soon as arrangements can be made to house them separately.
