Show Community Mail Delivery To Begin November 1 Pleasant Grove's community mail delivery will begin Nov. 1, if all needed equipment arrives before be-fore that time, Postmaster Ray Mills said Thursday. However, Mr. Mills hastened to add that the long-awaited service would not begin until Jan. 1, 1953, if he could not get the needed equipment to start in November. The reason he gave for the' two-months two-months delay, should equipment not arrive, is the large increase in mail November through December, Dec-ember, when packages will be sent to the armed services, and Christmas Christ-mas mailing. In a letter from the assistant postmaster general in charge of post office operations, Mr. Mills was told that sorting tables would be expedited as soon as possible. He has received a bill of lading for stools, satchels and forms, and expects them to arrive next week. The increased allowance for city delivery service has been received. The civil service examination for increased post office employes has been held, and a register established. Mr. Mills stated that he didn't know who the three new employes employ-es would be, but the first three will be chosen if they want the jobs. However, the next high men will be hired if others who top the list decide not to take the jobs. |
