Show Basketball Game Next Monday To Aid Polio Drive Pleasant Grove will have a chance to revenge the two-point defeat suffered at the hands of the Provo Jaycees a few weeks ago, when the Pleasant Grove All Stars, coached by Glen Gilbert, meet at the high school gym on Monday, Jan. 28, in a game with the All Stars of Provo at 7:30 p. m. 1 The game promises to be one of the best and is being arranged for the Polio Benefit which winds up the drive on January 31. Also the Geneva Coke Plant All-Stars will be on hand to pit its skill against some of the top M Men coached by Boyd Harper. The team from Geneva has yet to be defeated and is coached by Alvy Clove. This team is made up of BYU students and feature such players as Al Skousen, Ray Oliverson and some of the well-known athletes at the "Y." Tickets are being sold by the Jaycees and Gems, and at the gym that night. Tickets will be sold for 75c adults and 25c for students. The proceeds will go exclusively to the polio fund. This week, also, there will be a dance held at the First ward recreation hall on Jan. 30, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Earl A. Beck, who have assured a talented tal-ented floor show along with some of the finest square dancing. The price of admission will be up to you. Your ticket is a contribution to the Polio drive and any amount donated to this cause will help Pleasant Grove over the top. Last year the total amount of contribution contribu-tion was $214, and with 1200 families fam-ilies in this area, it is hoped the amount will be greatly increased in 1952. It is urged that citizens take advantage of one or both of these entertainment being arranged. The Mothers Porch Light Drive on Polio will be held on January 31 and a mother in each of the block has been contacted to collect col-lect contributions on that night between 6 and 7 o'clock.' Only one hour on a block will be spent and it will give everyone a chance to volunteer their donations to the March of Dimes. |
