Show Employment Office Places 2100 In Summer Jobs Approximately 2100 job opening open-ing were filled during the grow-ii.E grow-ii.E season and harvesting in the Peasant Grove-American Fork-Lehi Fork-Lehi area, according to A. L. Seely, employment officer who has been stationed in American .ork, the first one to be opened here, had placed high school boys and girls in most of the farming and fruit harvesting jobs. These high school boys and girls were hired by 200 employers, em-ployers, he said. As an example of the worth of this labor pool to the district, Mr. Seely stated that there were 76 boys and girls in one cherry orchard in one day, and 42 boys in one field thinning beets in one day. Although his office did not have anything to do with much other job placing during the season, sea-son, Mr. Seely said that there were approximately 25 Mexican Nationals in the field; 16 Negros working in the celery and 15 Navaho Indians doing work in the tri-city region. There are still some potatoes, beets, onions, squash and celery to be harvested in the area, it is reported. |
