The Duchess sit beside him. As the Queen entered the Abbey tne Duchess leaned towards the Duke. The Duke, his eyes fixed on the screen, did not move. Later, as the Archbishop of Canterbury said: " Sirs, 1 here present unto ycru. Queen Elizabeth." the Duchess pressed the Duke's hand. He looked at her, smiled, then turned quicklv bark to the TV set. The Duke later authorised his secretary to say : " The Duke and Duchess thought the whole ceremony was wonderfully conducted con-ducted and that the Queen was superb throughout." |
