Show Reception Honored Young Newlyweds The First ward recreation hall formed a very lovely background for the elegantly arranged wedding wed-ding reception Thursday evening May 12 at which Bishop and Mrs. H. S. Walker honored their daughter daugh-ter Carole and Robert West, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. West. The young couple, with the bridal brid-al party received relatives and friends before a background of shell pink and white, where lighted light-ed candlebra gleamed brightly o-ver o-ver a beautiful basket of white and pink glodiolr'and all thru the rooms large baskets of iris, peonies and tulips added romance and charm. In the lineuD were the bride and groom, their parents, Mrs. Anne Thomas, matron of honor, Mrs. Jane Tyler Ballou, a cousin, attending matron; and Miss Betty Simper and Miss tna Willet, brides maids. Jack Westover stood as best man. Flower girls were Linda Carson and Karen Remington. The bride was beautiful in a gown of heavy white satin entrain, en-train, fashioned with a deep lace edged marquissette yoke and lace ruffled skirt. Her veil of brides illusion was fingertip length and fell from a tiara of lily of the valley. She carried a bridal bouquet bou-quet of pink roses centered with a white orchid and tied with white satin streamers. Mrs. Thomas wore a gown of aqua net and Mrs. Ballou chose green satin. Miss Simper was gowned in pink satin and Miss Willett in orchid satin. All carried nosegays of white and pink carnations. carn-ations. The pretty little flower girls were clad in sheer pink and also carried nosegays. The brides mother wore turquoise tur-quoise lace and Mrs. West chartreuse chart-reuse crepe. Their corsages were pink and white talisman roses. The groom and best man wore evening clothes. Ushers were Gene Harvey and Glade Hilton. Receiving guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Harvey and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Clark. During receiving hours, organ music was played by Irwin Jensen. A. P. Warnick was master of ceremonies and cleverly introduced program numbers. Vocal solos were rendered by Max Golightly accompanied by Mrs. Golightly: Florene Stevens accompanied by Mrs. Lee Warnick and by Alice Brady, president of Tokolon, the brides social unit at the BYU. She was accompanied by Carolyn Blair also of Tokolon. , Miss Jelene Peterson of BYU rendered a violin solo. There was a reading by Mrs Vern Holindrak. Miss Estelle Fenton offered the toast to the bride and Mrs. Donna Ash toasted the groom. Dancing to the music of Wes Barry's ochestra and enjoying the tasty refreshments and viewing the unusual gift display concluded the evenings festivities. Hostess in the refreshment room was Mrs. Elvin Carson, while the following young ladies served, Anne Clark, Geniel Simner. Bar- bara Jensen, Patricia Anderson and Sara Jean Allied. Assisting caterer cat-erer Mrs. Startup in the inner room were Mrs. Hans Burmeister, Mrs. Ida Nierson, Mrs. Mary Za-briskie, Za-briskie, Mrs. Ellen Hebertson and Rose Hebertson. Caring for and arranging the lovely gift display were Mrs. Mabel Mab-el Jense, Mrs. Fern Smith, Mrs. Blanche Green and Mrs. Lorna Walker. Little ladies receiving gifts at the door were Pauline Ash, Joyce Hunter, Janice Adamson, and young Sterling Thomas. Assisting with flowers and decorations dec-orations were Mrs. L. P. Harvey. Mrs. Howard Warnick, Mrs. Beth Hall, Mrs. Ida West, Mrs. Gloria Seeley, Mrs. Geneve Olson, Mrs. LaVina Fugal, Mrs. Mary Moyle, Mrs. Jane Armitstead, Mrs. Kate Jacobs and Mrs. Ellen Hebertson. J. H. Armitstead, Adrian Thomas Thom-as and Stanley Walker looked after af-ter the seating of guests, etc. The young couple were married Tuesday morning at ten o'clock in the Salt Lake LDS temple, with temple recorder Benj. Bowring officiating. off-iciating. Witnessing the ceremony were the parents of both young people and the grooms aunt, Mrs. Donna Howard. Following the marriage the party par-ty were guests of the grooms father at a wedding breakfast at Hotel Temple Square. Immediately following the evening eve-ning :ception the newlyweds left for a short honeymoon thru Idaho and Wyoming. Soon they expect to make their home in Provo. Both are continuing their studies stud-ies at the BY'U. |
