Show Ten Years Ago Now (Taken from files of March 12, 1927) Fred W. Newman and Mr. Hilton met with the city council and petitioned peti-tioned that a paving district be created by the council. A written petition signed by S. D. Moore was read to the council asking that certain cer-tain sidewalk pavement be constructed. con-structed. The council decided that a paving district No. 3 be created by ordinance of the council looking to the desire of parties concerned in the above petition. Ten Years Ago Now The Religion classes of the three Pleasant Grove wards are giving , the picture show at the Alhambra Theatre next Monday and Tuesday night. Those in charge have ar-' ar-' ranged a real good coon program to be given in connection with the pic-I pic-I ture show. Those taking part in jthis feature are: Mr. and Mrs. J Duayne Anderson, Miss Alta Fugal, Mrs. Leona Told, Mrs. LeBoy Nelson and Clarence Hilton. Ten Years Ago Now The new Chamber of Commerce executive committee and the retiring retir-ing committee with their wives enjoyed en-joyed a banquet at the James D. Thome home Wednesday night. The tables were trimmed with yellow and green, early spring colors. Twenty-eight members and their wives were present. The new executive committee is as follows: M. S. Christiansen, president; John Mc-farlane, Mc-farlane, vice president; S. D. Moore, Jr. secretary and treasurer; Thomas Fenton, Hans Williamson, D. Miley Smith, Harold Walker, Elton Taylor and Dr. J. L. Huchel, directors. Ten Years Ago Now Through the courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce and local business men $85.00 was raised to purchase "Sweat Suits" for the basketball boys for the tournament. The Chamber of Commerce gave one half and the local business men gave the balance. Ten Years Ago Now On Tuesday evening, March 15th, a "Pep Rally" will be given at the high school to celebrate the basketball basket-ball boys going to the tournament. At 10:30 Wednesday the class of 1926 will sponsor sa rally at the high school. The public is invited. Ten Years Ago Now Clifford L. Wright, manager of the Pleasant Grove Canning Co., attended at-tended the Canner's convention and banquet at Ogden Friday and Saturday. Satur-day. Ten Years Ago Now Tn council meeting Saturday night Mr. Shoell of the streets committee reported work being done on the streets. It was stated that the large county grader was available for street repairs but that the smaller machine used last year had broken down and possibly would not be fixed fix-ed up again by the county. It was; I decided to make further investigations investiga-tions with reference to grading and to give the committee power to act in the street improvements, Ten Years Ago Now Camp 3 of the D. U. P. will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 24th, at the Third ward meeting house. Biographical sketches of the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, parents of Mrs. C. A. Fugal will be given. A splendid musical program will also be presented. |
