The first performance will be a matinee on Thursday, which is to be followed by a night performance Friday. "Professor How Could You" is a modern comedy, come-dy, that deals with the women of today and the women of the past. The cast is as follows: Professor Perry Floyd Backus Vicki Randolf Mary Burns John Applby Raymond Bronson Pricilla Morley Alice Anderson Boggins Lowe Howard Toatsie Bean Bea Walker Grandpa La Car Ash Grandma. Luenna Hunt Valerie Nell Stag Butcher Boy Bean Wallace Hall These students with the help of Mr. Peterson, have worked hard to complete the play. Home rooms were held Wednesday to debate several school problems. The senior boys and girls were separated sep-arated to discuss etiquette problems. Alfred Gunn, United States Marshal, Mar-shal, will be the speaker at the Pleasant Grove high school annual "Future Farmers Fathers and Sons" banquet to be held at 7:30, Saturday evening, March 9, at the high school. Morley Keetch chairman of the entertainment has announced the program for the banquet. They expect ex-pect to entertain 120 people. Program is to be as follows: Lee Cobbley, toastmaster; song by girls trio, Jean West, Lucille Newman, and Maurine Lim; accordian number, num-ber, Windle Day; reading, Mr. Rollins; Rol-lins; remarks, a father; vocal solo, Jean West; saxaphone solo, Frank Newman; duet, Alice Anderson and Thelda Gardiner. Thirty-three Seminary graduates have received their pins and are very proud of "them. The pin has nine pearls, three rubies and a small statue of the Angel Moroni. The guard has a picture of the Salt Lake Temple with two pearls engraved on the side of it. Mr. Smith was presented with a pin from the graduates. Students who were successful in making the honor roll the second quarter are: Senior High: Ranee Nielson, Pearl Hicks, Joy Page, Kathleen West, Lona Walker, Helen Hendrickson, Louise Green, Bea Walker, Beth Hooley, Thelda Gardiner, Helen Green, Leland Baxter, Bax-ter, Gordon Walker, Eleroy West. Junior High: Joyce Clark, Ruby Davis, Anna Rose McMillan, Jeaneall Thome, Dena Tomlinson, Joyce Fugal, Lucille Lu-cille Halliday, Kathryn Olpin, LaRee Olsen, Evelyn York, Dawn Marie Adams, Louise Brimhall, Betty Louise Bullock, Geniel Cullimore, Emmeline Kirk, Marilyn Warnick, L. Jean Olsen, Richard Paulson, Garth Gillman, Kenneth Rogers, Robert Bezzant, Robert Shoell. The Pep Club girls marched between be-tween halves at the Pleasant Grove-Provo Grove-Provo basketball game played Friday, Fri-day, March 1, in Provo's gymnasium. Carrying blue and white shakers, the Viqueens marched down the floor in twelves until they reached the center of the floor and then by reverse marching, they marched to the end of the floor. They formed a "P" and gave a yell for Provo. Then in groups of fours, they formed form-ed a triangular formation and sang the school song. The club then formed a "V", gave a yell for their team, and marched off the floor. The Debate club enjoyed a very interesting trip to Ogden, Friday, March 1. There they participated in the Weber College debate tournament tourna-ment together with ninety seven teams representing all of Utah and parts of Idaho. Two of the six teams from Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove went to the semi-finals; Don George and Austin Dittmore went to the eighth round and were one of the last nine teams debating. The debate club is now looking forward to participation in the speech tournament at the B. Y. U. an dthe University of Utah. Pleasant Grove Vikings wound up the basketball season in third place when they lost a hard fought game to the Provo Bulldogs. The Bulldogs went through the season undefeated while Lehi came through in second place with three defeats. Fridays game with Provo was very close with little scoring. At the half the score was 11 to 8 in favor of Provo. Then at the start of the second half the Bulldogs made two more baskets in short order, then matched the Vikings basket for basket until the final gun when the score read 19 to 26 for Provo. In order to promote knowledge of banking and to stimulate the interest inter-est of young people in functions of a bank, the Utah Bankers Association Associa-tion has arranged an essay contest on the subject, "Services Offered by Banks and Their Values to Community Com-munity Life". For the best essay submitted there will be awarded a cash prize of $50; for the second best essay, a cash prize of S30; and for the third, $20. The winner of this contest will be invited to read the prize essay at the annual convention con-vention to be held at Logan. The writer of the best essay in the high school will be awarded a cash prize by the Pleasant Grove Bank. The Journalism Class has entered the essay contest. |
