Show City Sprinkling Service Started On P. Streets Reports of city councilmen on various var-ious city projects now under way, marked a meeting of the Pleasant Grove city council Saturday night. Councilman Duane Harper reported report-ed that work is going forward satisfactorily satis-factorily on the new city building, with roughly about one-third of the construction completed. Cement has been poured for the basement, and plumbing and heating "roughing in" completed. Under direction of J. Kemp, building build-ing supervisor, the workmen will be ready to go ahead on the rock work next week, Mr. Harper reported. The rock was salvaged from the old Clark opera house, and has been sawe- into blocks to facilitate its use. Councilman Sanford Walker reported re-ported that the cementing of the irrigation ditch above the Pleasant Grove mill, in the northeast section of town, has been completed, and the construction crew is now busy on the Battle Creek ditch. About one-quarter mile of this ditch, remains re-mains to be cemented, and when this is completed the ditch from Battle Creek to the North Union canal, a distance of one and one-half one-half miles, will be of the approved type for conservation of irrigation water. Councilman Walker also reported that street sprinkling with city equipment has been started, Edward Hardman having been selected to do this work. It was announced that all citizens wishing to take advantage advan-tage of this sprinkling service may obtain rates and information by contacting Councilman Walker. I Enforcement of the 25-mile speed limit in the city also was discussed, and it was announced that steps will be taken to assure the observance of this regulation. It was pointed out that speeding in the residential sections creates a traffic hazard, and also becomes a nuisance by raising dust on unpaved streets. Funds for the support of the joint school district-city recreation program, pro-gram, in the amount of $200, were appropriated. o |
