Show j Pleasant Grove Locals j Mr. and Mrs. William Cox of Salt Lake City, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dexter on Friday. LaPriel Barney Williams has been visiting the past week with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Barney. Mr. and Mrs. John Banks and their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Dahl of Salt Lake City, were guests of Mrs. Eliza Banks, mother of Mr. Banks on Sunday. Ward Clark returned to his position posi-tion in New York Friday after a two weeks' visit with Utah relatives. Miss Reva West of Los Angeles, is spending the summer with her sister, Mrs. Lyean Johnson and family. Lauritz Peterson of Helper, was a week-end visitor with Pleasant Grove friends. President A. J. Evans of Lehi, was the principal speaker at the London ward last Sunday evening. Miss El-da El-da Neves rendered a piano selection and Miss Ritchie of Provo rendered two solos. Mrs. Mervene Jensen Gonzales and son of Long Beach, California, are visiting for the coming two weeks with Mrs. Gonzales mother, Mrs. N. P. Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Walker left Thursday for a trip to Glacier Park, Montana. Mr. and Mrsl Ecnund Cragum were Ogden visitors July 24th. They attended the Pioneer Day celebration celebra-tion and the Cragun reunion. Dr- Ellis Shipp, of Salt Lake City, and Elisha H. Davis of Lehi, were visiting at the Joseph W- Halliday home and at the Elaine Swenson home last Thursday. The 4th year 4-H cooking club of Manila attended a Kerr canning school July 15th and 16th at American Amer-ican Fork, under the direction of their leader, Mrs- Lurena Warnick. Word has been received by Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove relatives of the birth of a baby to Dr- and Mrs. Wayne R. Driggs of Long Island, New York-The York-The proud mother of this baby is Elizabeth Swenson Driggs, formerly of this city. The 4th year 4-H cooking club of Manila met Monday at the home of Erma Atwood. The lesson was on scrapbooks, followed by a demonstration dem-onstration on sandwiches, given by Annis Harper and Erma Atwood- Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thome and family of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Leo R. Walker and family of Garland, Gar-land, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sjo-berg Sjo-berg and family of Salt Lake, were guests of Mrs. Regina Thorne Sunday. Sun-day. Leland A. Clark and William Partington Part-ington and twenty-five Future Farmers Farm-ers of Pleasant Grove left Monday morning for a five days trip to Fish Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Swenson and Mr. and Mrs. Erving Johnson returned return-ed Monday from a trip to Fish Lake. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Hilton and family returned Friday from a trip of two weeks to Fish Lake. Mrs. Fern Bullock Bond of Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, is spending her vacation vaca-tion with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Bullock. Hugh Wadley and Cyril Thorne left Monday night by truck, on a business trip for the Pleasant Grove Canning company. Retta Smith Crease of Tabonia, has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. D. M. Smith, for the past two weeks. Ray Wootton of Heber, is visiting indefinitely with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wootton. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dexter and Thomas Whittingham were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Monson at Lehi Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Thorne and children of Salt Lake City, were Sunday guests of Mr. Thome's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Thome. A. P. Warnick and Mr. Roundy were the speakers at the Second ward sacrament meeting Sunday evening. eve-ning. Several musical trios were rendered by Jean Fugal and his sister, sis-ter, Anna Fugal. , Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cullimore returned re-turned to New York July 23rd, after visiting with relatives here. Mrs. Cullimore has been home about seven sev-en weeks and Mr. Cullimore about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Tomlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Walker returned Sunday evening from a trip to Yellowstone park. Mrs. Roena A. Done of California, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse M. Walker of American Fork, and with Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Adams and other relatives in Pleasant Grove. Mrs. Jewel Linebaugh Berge returned re-turned to her father's home Tuesday Tues-day from the L. D. S. hospital where a fine baby boy was bom ten days ago. Mother and baby are doing nicely. Mrs. Berge will return soon to her home in Pheonix, Arizona. Sixty-five members of the C. R. W. P. W. organization and their wives enjoyed a weenie roast and bonfire party at the Cave Camp in American Ameri-can Fork canyon last Saturday evening. eve-ning. The LaDega 4-H Club with Nina White as their leader enjoyed a swimming party at Geneva Monday evening. In the group were Thelda Gardiner, Luana Lim, LuJean Olpin, Mary Bums, June West, Mary West and Alta and Elda Clark. The state f iremans convention will be held at Heber August 8, 9 and 10th. The delegates from the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove fire department are Chief J. Kemp, Assistant Chief C. J. Williamson Will-iamson and Fireman James D. Thorne. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Newman and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Nielsen were called call-ed to the bedside of Miss Elizabeth Newman at the L. D. S. hospital Tuesday morning. Miss Newman died at about 10 a. m. Tuesday morning after ten weeks serious illness following follow-ing a major operation. Lake. Lyean Johnson and H. P. Jones will join them Tuesday evening eve-ning and help make the trip enjoyable enjoy-able for the boys. Mr. and Mrs. Leland A. Clark entertained en-tertained at a "steak bake" dinner at Timpanogos Cave Camp Monday evening. The guests included, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Banks, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Jacobs, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jacobs, Mrs. Pearl Wadley, Mrs. Merle Coombs and LaVere Wadley. Mrs. Florence Stagg Smith of Salt Lake City, is convalescing from an operation for appendicitis about ten days ago at the L. D. S. hospital. Miss Leah Stagg of this city, has been caring for her baby while Florence Flor-ence has been at the hospital. Mrs. Cleone Kirk was hostess to the ladies of the Mother's Club last Thursday afternoon at her home. Mrs. Kirk gave a sketch of the life of Mary Ogilvy, mother of J. M. Barrie. A solo was rendered by Mrs. C. O. Jensen. Delicious refreshments were served. |
