Show First Old Age Checks Ready For Citizens The first checks under the new social security bill were distributed at the office of the county auditor Wednesday afternoon. Warrants for 288 old age cases, 113 cases of dependent de-pendent children which involves 215 minors, and 5 warrants for the aid of needy blind wrere available at the office. The three major phases of Utah's social security plan old age assistance, assist-ance, aid for the dependent children, chil-dren, and aid for the needy blind were approved Tuesday by the national na-tional social security board. Governor Gov-ernor Blood received this information informa-tion from two sources in Washington, Washing-ton, both Frank Bane, executive director di-rector of the national board, and F. J. Champ, chairman of the Utah board, who has been in Washington for two days conferring with the federal officials, wiring the news of the approval. The approval brought allotments of federal funds totaling $400,000 to carry the program through till July 1. The checks are available for all who qualified in the original lists of applications that were complied and sent to the state department several months ago. People who have made application subsequent to this compilation com-pilation and have qualified, cannot be added to the list until April 1. They will be taken care of by the county welfare board until then. r |
