Show Pleasant Grove Locals Miss Dorothy Ried and her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Higgs, of Provo, visited Tuesday with Miss Effie Warnick. James D. Thorne who was operated operat-ed on July 27 for double hernia was I brought home Wednesday. Nels T. Fenton was operated on Tuesday at the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City for hernia. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fenton and three daughters of Parowan, are visiting with relatives here and in Salt Lake City. Marlyn Warnick is visiting this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Eldredge of Granger. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Holdaway and little son, LeRoy, of Vineyard, visited Sunday afternoon with Miss Effie Warnick and Mrs. C. P. Warnick. Little Miss Elaine Thorne, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Thorne of Richfield, has been visiting the past three weeks with her .grandparents, .grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs.; David B. Thome of Richfield. The New Testament classes of the Lindon Sunday School under direction direc-tion of their teachers, Ray West and Bernice Cullimore enjoyed a swimming swim-ming party at Park-Ro-She at Springville Monday evening. Mrs. Marguerete Harris, accompanied accom-panied her sons, Lionel and Charles to Bluff, Nebraska, last Sunday for a ten days visit. The boys are employed em-ployed there. They came home for their father's funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Warnick Swenson and daughter, Shirley, and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick and children, Eldredge, Marlyn, Irene and Robert attended the Eldredge reunion in I Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John S. Greene and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Nelson of Lynndyl came to Pleasant Grove Wednesday to attend the funeral of Elizabeth Adamson Powell. Mrs. Jennie Smith and daughter, Ethel, and son, Thorne, visited Monday Mon-day in Midway with Ruth Smith Buhler and family. Mrs. Buhler and baby returned home with them for a short visit. Word was received yesterday morning by Mrs. Roena Clark of the death of her brother-in-law, Hamp-bell Hamp-bell Maupin, of Teague, Texas. He is the husband of Marine Clark Maupin formerly of this city, who died a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. H. W., Clark and family returned Wednesday evening from a trip thru California. While, at Sa.n Jouse they were guests of his sister and when in San Francisco they were guests of -Mr. and Mrs. Ward Clark. One of the gala affairs of the week was a trip to Lagoon Monday, taken by the Aaronic Priesthood boys of the Windsor ward. The boys were chaperoned by their ward chairman, Ferry Nielson, and Brown Hales and George Long. The boys had the time of their life. Mr. and Mrs. George Hamilton and daughter, ' Margaret, of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt of Peru, Indiana, visited Sunday afternoon af-ternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick. Mr. Hamilton is a missionary companion of Mr. Warnick. War-nick. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt are L. D. S. converts spending their vacation va-cation visiting points of interest in the west. Mr. and Mrs. William Van Wagoner Wag-oner of Heber, were Pleasant Grove visitors Saturday. Mrs. L. M. Atwood is convalescing at the Aird hospital in Provo from an operation for appendicitis. News reports of yesterday announced an-nounced the marriage of Jose Baxter of this city and Frank Hudson of Nephi. James A. Nelson is visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nelson at Jackson, Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Thorne of Salt Lake City were dinner guests Tuesday of Mrs. James D. Thorne. Mrs. Joseph Ash was operated on Monday at the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City for goitre. Mrs. Ash was before her marriage, Miriam Kirk. Mrs. Grace Hillman Moore and family of Angel, Utah, have moved i into the Hillman home for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cullimore visited Sunday with relatives in Garfield and Tooele. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Walker of Tooele, were guests Saturday and Sunday of Mr. Walker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Walker. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Kirk and family fami-ly returned Monday from a short visit at Mohrland, Utah. While there they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kirk and family. . Mrs. Rose B. Hayes is visiting in Salt Lake City with her sisters, Mrs. Amy Brown Lyman and Mrs. Lydra B. Lund. James D. Thorne, who underwent an operation for double hernia at the L. D. S. hospital on July 21, is reported to be improving nicely. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. George left Pleasant Grove August 7 for a trip to Los Angeles and California points of interest. Mrs. George is a sister of Mr. Theobald. Mr. and Mrs. J. Sanford Walker and sons, Vance and "Sandy" motored motor-ed to Twin, Falls, Idaho, last Saturday. Satur-day. Mrs. Eldon 'Brinley is in the Brig-ham Brig-ham City "hospital with a dainty baby girl. "The second girl in Eldon's family. Eldon is attending summer sum-mer school at Los Angeles. 'S. O. Strong of Alpine is in the Lehi hospital for medical treatment. His wife, Martha Canham- Strong, has been in Lehi the past week with him. He is reported to be slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Theobald of Fillmore, were guests Wednesday of last week at the home of Mrs. Mary Culmer. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse "Harding,-Mrs. Mary Culmer and son, Glade, spent the week-end at -Woodland, Summit Co., guests of Mrs. Culmer's sister, Mrs. Hyrum Winterton, and family. The Manila Home Science Club met Friday at the home of Lucy Wadley. The lesson was a discussion discus-sion on patterns and size. Each girl was measured to find her individual measure preparatory for each girl making herself a complete costume. Scrap Books and appropriate materials ma-terials was illustrated.
