Show O Eightieth Birthday Birth-day Celebrated In honor of toe 80th birthday of Moroni Gerber, October 4th, fifty members of his family gathered for a family reunion at the homes of Mrs. George S. Bingham and Mrs. E. Ray Gardner, his daughters living liv-ing in this city. . A hot dinner was served at the Bingham home followed fol-lowed by a short program by toe younger members of the family. A poem, "We Follow A. Famous Father," Fath-er," was read by a son, J. Wendell Gerber. A family organization was effected effect-ed for the social welfare of the family fam-ily and to carry on their genealogical work. Mr. Gerber was born in Cedar City, October 4, 1854, a son of Swiss parents who emigated to the United States, joined the L. D. S'. church and came to Utah with the early pioneers. With his parents he lived in Cedar City, Salt Lake City and Midway. In 1899 with his wife and a family of nine children he moved to Vernal and helped to settle set-tle that part of the state. Since toe death of his wife, 21 years ago, he has spent the major part of his time in Utah county. He has been ia very energetic man and has contributed a great part of his life in church activities, filling two missions and holding responsible responsi-ble positions in the various organizations. organ-izations. He has spent much timei in the last few years workmg in, the temple and doing research work. The members of his family present pres-ent last Sunday were Mrs. Mable Gardner, Provo; Mrs. Florence Bichardson, Orem; Mrs. Jean Merk-ley Merk-ley Salt Lake City; Hugh Gerber, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Fern Swam Vernal; Mrs. Helen Jones, Fort Hall Idaho; J. Wendell Gerber, Burlingame, California; Mrs. Janet Bingham and Mrs. Stella Gardner of this city. E. Lyman Gerber of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Imn Gerber of Price, visited with their father the previous week. |
